The monsters are being picky with veggies. They will eat corn on the cob, sugar snap peas, spring mix, basil, and pretty much any lettuce all day if I let them. However, I would love them to go back to eating broccoli, cauliflower, zuchinni, and other veggies with more vitamins and less water content. They like cabbages as well and still have had no fruit and only get 1-2 nuts a day at the end of the day as well as 2 HHB's a piece.

On the HHB front I see some shredded, some stashed, some eaten and judging this is hard with my mountain of leaves and sticks in there. I feed HHB's in the morning and go out an hour or two later. If they are out of sight they get 2 handfuls of mixed veggies, then 2 more HHB's late afternoon, and 2 more handfuls of mixed veggies. Nuts at night before covering them for the evening. Both are big with beautiful coats but I can't help but wonder if I am feeding enough or if they are ingesting enough HHB's to prevent MBD.

So now to the mean part- I did not give them sugar snap peas or lettuce just now:D They got 2 pieces of corn on the cob about an inch thick right off the cob, some kale, and some broccoli. Corn is gone, kale half gone, broccoli burried, and 1/2 an HHB in sight. I was thinking about only giving 2 more HHB's at dinner and no nuts to get them to eat the broccoli and HHB. Neither will eat an HHB after it sits for the night though the wilds will so do I starve them of their favorites and only give HHB's and more robust nutritional veggies, or lay off since both will have run of the wild in a week or two anyway?? HATE all this worry and second guessing myself. My gut says provide HHB's and all veggies, let them figure it out, do this all winter they will supplement with wild foods soon enough; but then I get worried.

What if they don't figure out the right wild foods to eat or are picky out there??

Corn should always be given in limited amounts and some people never feed corn. Too much sugar and starch. Calcium to Phosphorus Ratios are way off.
If you look at the nutrition chart you will see that corn is in the 3rd group.

I tell ya, these squirrels should come with an owner's manual.:D

Oops they get it once or twice a week, but mostly greens, lettuces, and sugar snap peas. Just wanting them to like broccoli's, cauliflower, and other non lettuce type veggies and it is not working:(

I do give a small piece of corn on the cob on occasion, but when I do, I sprinkle calcium carbonate on it (I give it very sparingly, not even once a month). They do love it, but it really is not good for them. I also cut the cob into small pieces, as well, with only a small piece for each.
