She is constipated and hasnt used the bathroom since yesterday i have wiped her with a warm rag and gave her sugar water and infant gas drops and nothing has worked

Well this has sat here a while with no responses.

I will try to help even though I don't know much about squirrels except what I have read on here. So all my help is crap! LOL

Pumpkin in a can fed is good for constipation. Not pumpkin pie mix in can, PLAIN pumpkin. However, my squirrel would not eat this.

SOO MY squirrel responded well to feeding him 3 cc of Gerber Baby Apple Juice at next two feedings.

I am sure someone will say that is bad to give, but that is what worked for my constipated baby.

I also fed him some baby applesauce about 1/4 teaspoon full.



I have read that when constipated you should water down the Fox Valley formula a little bit... I did not do this and have no knowledge of if this is correct or not.


I enjoy trying to help, but since I am not an expert rehabber, you could definitely try feeding the can pumpkin, as that is what they all told me to do.

Other remedies I suggested are not recommended by experts to ME, but are remedies that I searched and tried myself.

My squirrel pooped a little after couple hours, then next morning he was OK again.. pooping like horse... heehee.

hope your squirrel gets well. go easy on the apple juice... give one syringe then feed -worked for me... but all squirrels are different.

I swore I posted here this morning as well with a link to bloat protocol..

fill a bowl of warm water and put her in it, hold her of course, head up feet down, gently massagae her belly downward...
you'll see bubbles as she passes gas...

What bloat is is gas/air, sometimes from bubbles in the formula, sometimes from yeast growing in the tummy,
it does not occur in nature, sooo it is human error..
as CSL posted, canned pumkin or apple juice, either one will work if the warm water soak doesn't..
infant gas X is okay to ue, don't over do it..

try to figure what caused the bloat,
cold formula, spoiled ingrediants, reheated milk,
bad water...????
for now, no feeding until she is normal, then a feeding of pedialyte
to stimlate blood sugars and motility...
keep us in the loop

Hi here is a update on my baby girl she has pooped and is now sleeping curled up in her bed. I just want to thank you Jackie and crazy squirrel lady ya'll were so much help to me. I will keep ya'll up to date on how she progress, once again thank you from the bottom of my heart. :thankyou

Thanks guy's for the support!! I don't have any pics on here but I will be sure to get one of her so you all can see her. She doing good she was up and going this morning she is learning how to balance her self on hind her legs while holding her chew stick. She is so funny to watch, she is now resting in her bed after a long play and chew time. Once again thank you for your support and advice it means a lot to me... :smilecolors
