Not sure if its life threatening but not sure if its not....
A month back I rescued a squirrel from being dinner for cats. He was about 4" long head to rump, full fur, teeth and open eyes when I rescued him. Everything has been goin well, was set to release him back in the wild in a week or two till I hit a snag. I was taking him for a walk when he jumped off my back to a feeder and kind missed, hit the ground and a cat magically appeared out of no where to attack.. Got him back after he ran like hell but I dont know if it the cat got a bit on him or the fall but think his back right let of foot may be broken. There is no open flesh or even fur missing but he seems to hold his rear leg and foot tucked under him.. He isnt dragging the limb behind him but he refuses to use it. I can move the leg back and forth and it will shutter slightly, I cannot feel any breaks nor does he seems to be in any pain! He is eating well, and still tries to play in his cage, just refuses to use that leg and or foot..
Really could use some advice, my plan was to release him back in the wild ... I really dont know if Im up to caring for a 3 legged squirrel and Im sure he doesnt want to live out his little furry life as a 3 legged squirrel in a cage...
