I know nothing about raising a squirrel........This afternoon my mother's cat brought up a baby squirrel. I say baby, not quite half grown. When we first got him away from the cat he was lifeless with no breathing. Then a few seconds later he started gasping for breath then maybe 2 minutes later the lil fella came back to life and opened his eyes. I put him down on the ground and he tried to crawl away but his back half appeared to be paralyzed but other than that he was quite alert. I sat him on the swing with me and he tried to crawl in behind me and just sat there for a long time eyes wide open. I brought him home in a box with an old shirt in it and put him in the garage, checking on him periodically. Put a pecan in there with him in case he wanted to eat. Also tried to give him some water from a syringe but he seems uninterested in it. He was somewhat alert up until a couple hours ago. Maybe an hour ago he became completely unresponsive to any touch so I felt of him and he was very cold. I've got a 60 watt bulb warming him up for the last 30 minutes or so and just checked on him and is responsive to touch again but not alert like he was. Before he became unresponsive he would attempt to move his back legs so I don't think the cat paralyzed him, maybe just really really weak. He had a small spot of blood on his left side just behind his shoulder when we first got to him, didn't seem to look like anything major. What do I need to do to get this lil fella back to life??? It's late so the only option is something at walmart to feed him if he wakes up. I can post a pic of him if you need to see how small he is.

VERY IMPORTANT.......... This squirrel is going to need some medication being that it was in the mouth of a cat. Please clean up the cuts now and place some Neosporin or A&D ointment on the wounds and then check and see if any of your friends or family members have any left over Cipro or Amoxicillin laying around their house. --we can have one of the licensed rehabbers dose the medication for you when they come online.
