Help! My flying squirrels escaped from their cage. I found one, but the female is still on the loose. I have shut as many doors as possible and put water and walnuts out, so if a walnut is missing, I can localize the squirrel. The squirrel may be anywhere in the house.
Any more ideas?

I've never had Hiccup escape his cage, but when I was younger I had a hamster that was notorious for getting out of his cage. When it first happened we would turn the house upside down looking for him, but then we noticed that he would leave clues as to where he was. YES I'm talking about poop. Find the poop find the hamster (or in this case flyer) or at least you can sort of designate areas to start looking. Putting food out was a good idea, that helped in finding cheeks (my hamster) also try to think your flyer. What kind of areas does he like? (example: dark, tight spaces) and start looking in places you think he might hide in. Also do you let him out to roam out of the cage at all? If so does he seem to have a specific area he likes to be in? You could always let your other flyer out and keep a VERY close eye on her. Chances are if they are caged together they will find each other eventually. I would also suggest that if you have other pets to lock them in a room that u know he's not in so they don't find him first :O

well for one thing you have to be SUPER careful now, moving thing and such.
But what might be better for now - sprinkle flour wherever you can.
If she comes out of somewhere, you migjt be able to trace her

No squirrel yet or signs of squirrel. She is an almost grown squirrel that I am fostering. This is her first time out of the cage.
I did check the red chair....
Please pray that I find Hazel.

Hi this happened to me also. I found her in the closets in a shirt sleeve. I think you are going to have to go through everything one at a time looking in to sleeves and pockets. Hickory was gone for almost 24 hours. Sure hope you find her soon. Do you have and vases they like to hide there also. She probably found some place nice and warm and curled up and went to sleep.:dono

Hazel has been located but not caught! She is contained in a walk in closet...unfortunately there are a million places for her to hide. I put her open cage in there along with some food and water, so hopefully my noctural squirrel will be in her cage sleeping come morning.

Great news maybe you can put a towel or something under the door so she doesn't slip out from underneath the door while your not looking:jump They are sure slippery little devils.
