I just got some pecans for my kids...was wondering how old they had to be to eat them. They are about 8 weeks, FV 3 times a day, eating HHB's and picking at veggies. :)

Unless I need them as bait to lure the kids away from the door of the cage (or back into the cage) I do not give nuts until a week or so before they are ready for the RC. Bait nuts are shelled almonds, the rest are IN SHELL nuts.

IMO - shelled nuts are good to give to them as a means to help keep the teeth trimmed..... almonds in the shells is good for this while they are young (8 wks +) and as always they must be able to crack a walnut before they can be released.

So...would it be okay for them to have shelled pecans now? :thinking

So...would it be okay for them to have shelled pecans now? :thinkingAlmonds in the shell would prob be better for a younger squirrel due to its small narrow size..... :thumbsup
