Hello. I found a baby squirrel in my home, laying on the floor, not moving. I believe my cat brought it into the house. There are two wounds on its side and need some antibiotics. I have some olive leaf extract which I know to be a broad spectrum antibiotic but it is safe for squirrels? He also has fleas and I have been removing them by hand as I see them but it there a product or natural product that will help rid the fleas? Trying to connect with a rehab center but I don't mind doing what I can to keep him alive.
Thanks.

He will need baytril asap (or the human drug Cipro). Cat saliva is deadly and will kill a squirrel. Adams kitten flea powder works well, but you can also use dawn dish soap, be very carefuly to not get it in his nose/mouth/eyes and rinse well and be sure to dry him so he does not get chilled. I cannot stress enough he needs the abs asap, they can crash very suddenly from this. Not anywhere close to help. Hope others will chime in.

BABY SQUIRREL CARE:
First thing needed is to warm the squirrel.
Now check for any injuries and/ or wounds.
Hydrate the squirrel right away (use a 1cc syringe) and go slow.
Give homemade pedialyte every hour for eight hours (max 24 hours).
Once hydrated make Goats Milk formula, feed 5-7% of their body weight every 4 hours.
IMPORTANT: Babies must be kept WARM --NEVER feed a cold baby.
_______

can you repost this in the Emergency Help forum, I know the experts are notified by email or something when a new thread starts there.
Can you make a rice buddy out of a sock with uncooked rice inside? Put him in a shoebox on a old t shirt or baby blanket, and tuck the rice buddy underneath the blanket. The rice buddy goes in the microwave for 30 seconds and be sure, to mix it up after u take it out! Don't burn baby.
Warm him up first, then he needs 24 hours of Pedialyte plain. Feed him every 2 hours if he will take it, so he gets some Fluids back.
Rub his tummy with a warm wet cotton ball, and rub his poo hole and clean it up gently.
The experts will be here soon to help.

Yeah! Experts here already.. whew...
p.s. What a cutie pie.
Can you go get a heating pad that don't turn off, and put 1/2 under his box? That is best to warm him up without cooking him.

I should clarify 'not moving'. It could move but it wasn't. It didn't try to run away but it did move when I picked it up to put into a box. I also tried giving it some pedialyte but he doesn't seem interested. He has decently long bottom teeth but very short top teeth.

I put a link to this post in the emergency section to get more attention quickly. He is not used to it, it takes them a bit, but he needs fluids, so go drop by drop if you have to. Just be careful to not aspirate him.

Already keeping him warm with a Ziploc bag of warm water under the towel. I will go shortly to Walgreens for a small heating pad.
Thanks all!

I also tried giving it some pedialyte but he doesn't seem interested. He is prob in shock and possibly in pain, therefore, getting him warm and giving him some pain meds will help him want to drink........ it will take a few hours to get him to drink a few cc's at one sitting, but if can get him to drink a little bit of pedialyte every five minutes now and keep it going once he is all warm & toasty it will help greatly in his survival rate --along with getting some antibiotics in him.
Children or Infants Motrin will work for PAIN!!
..... need weight to give proper dosage.

Weighed him at about 4 oz.
Where can one get baytril asap (or the human drug Cipro)? I tried to get something from a local vet but they could not give me any without seeing the squirrel and they don't see squirrel.
Thanks.

Baytril can be obtained from a vet or a local rehabber that lives close to you.
You can check with your family & friends to see if they have any Cipro or Amoxicilin pills.
Infant Motrin - 4 oz = 113.4 grams
give - .025cc (every 4 hrs)

He is now at a rehab place. The lady said he should not look as lethargic as he did for the amount of time since it was found. She is guessing head trauma and will be starting antibiotics for the wounds.
Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.

You did the right thing...... some times is takes a while for them to regain their regular disposition back after a fall or trauma, therefore, having an exp rehabber take care of him is for the best. :grouphug
