Hello Everybody! Soooooooo happy to find others who actually love squirrels as much as my hubby and me. I hope you can help. We live in an apartment complex and have been feeding the 3 squirrels for 2 years, and 3 new littles ones since last year. There are only 6 of them. Never have been any more than that. We love them so much. Our 'Mama' is so sweet, the sweetest squirrel ever! We named them. :) And they love us. You should see how excited they get when they see us. We hand feed 5 of them. One of them has always been a bit shy. Anyway, we built a house and will be moving in a couple of weeks. We want to take them with us so badly. What will they do without us? What will we do without them? It's heartbreaking. Our complex is pretty busy with workers, people, cars and kids. Our new house is about 12 miles away and we will be living in a development with only 8 houses, dead end road. Each house has at least 2 - 3 acres of land..we have 2 acres. Mostly woods, no traffic at all, no kids or noise. Please advise..would it be best to leave them here. Would it be bad for them if we took them with us? Would they be happy? Would they survive? We want to do what's best for them. Thanks.

Hi Garden71, I've been searching on-line forever and can't find an answer. We have 3 neighbors right now who like the squirrels..and our one chimpmunk. And, they throw a few nuts out ONCE in a while and they swear they will take care of them..but nobody will love them like we do. And Mama loves my husband. He has a little chipmunk buddy too..he wants to take him also. He wants to make our new backyard 'The Critter Oasis.' :D He wants to give them squirrels houses and everything.
Well, hopefully somebody can give us an answer.

I hope so.
My wife has a wild that runs up to her and sits in her lap another that jumps from the tree to the window a/c which is about 6 to 8 feet away. She got a little older and hasn't done that in a while...:dono .
In the back of my building I have about 12 on average but it has got up to 2 dozen :sanp3 :wahoo

It seems to me that where you re going there will likely be squirrels. Adding new ones to an established area might not be best for all concerned. I totally understand how you feel though as I have a crowd who knocks on the door if I'm late.:shakehead

Hi SammysMom,
Yes, we have seen them at the new house. And, I'm guessing they are pretty wild as they aren't used to people, cars..etc. I guess I always knew the answer...it just makes me sad. And, everybody says we'll make new squirrel friends, but it won't be Mama and the gang. Thank you..and Garden71 for responding. I'm so happy to have found a place here on the WWW a group of great, kind people who like critters. I hope I'll be able to post some pictures at some point, and share our new squirrel stories. I"ll probably have more questions. :rotfl
