A friend of mine just called from Birmingham: an electrician has found a squirrel nest in her aunt's attic and relocated it. Two closed eyed pink hairless babies are in there. I told her to keep them in a box outside under a shrub so the mom can find them and not let humans hover around. It seems that the mom is looking. My friend has called multiple wildlife organizations but no one is returning her calls. She has info on how to take care of baby squirrels but she is leaving Alabama tomorrow. Can anyone help in Birmingham? If you can please let me know and i'll forward you her contact info

IF the mom is hanging around, she WILL take the babies so long as they are not cold, and so long as people aren't hanging around near them. If the babies are getting cool, put a bottle filled with hot water under a cloth next to them....the best thing to happen is for mamma to return and take them in!

That's what I told her. I was just told that a friend of the family who has rehabbed squirrels before offered to take care of them if the mom does not find them by late afternoon. Thank you for your help!
