We found an approx. 3 week old squirrel on labor day. Tried to find its mom and no use so I started reading online. We rehydrated with pedialyte and the only milk replacement I could find that night was Hartz kitten milk replacement in a 12oz. can. I can't find another can but have found the Hartz kitten replacement milk in powder form. The baby squirrel seems to be eating it fine. He is urinating and defacating at least every other feeding. Everything online says use Ebsilac formula in powder form. I was comparing the nutritional contents of the Hartz kitten milk replacement powder and the Ebsilac puppy milk replacement powder that everyone says to use and they are very similar. I want to make sure I'm not hurting the little guy and giving him something dangerous to his body. He just opened his eyes last night and seems to be happy as long as he is fed and warm. let me know your thoughts please.

Sorry to contradict everything you've read so far, but BOTH are junk. Hartz is bad period. Esbilac used to be used by nearly everyone, but a few years ago they changed their manufacturing process and it resulted in the death of many many squirrels.
The BEST formula you can get for a squirrel is Fox Valley Day One. I buy mine at http://henryspets.com/formulas/
You can only buy it online. Squirrels thrive on it (and it smells great too...almost like french vanilla creamer)

Esbilac USED to be the choice and most sites have not been updated. They changed their manufacturing process a couple years ago and now it is very difficult to dissolve completely, so it does not digest well and causes diarrhea. And I hate to tell you but Harts brand ANYTHING is absolute junk, just the worst of the worst.
We now recommend Fox Valley, it is MADE for squirrels:
www.henryspets.com
www.foxvalleynutrition.com
Buy some o-ring syringes in 1 and 3cc when you are there.
Please read the first post in this thread - it describes an excellent temp formula until the Fox Valley comes in.:thumbsup

Kitten formula is not good for squirrels. Goat's milk recipe is much better for them and then you can use Fox Valley from http://foxvalleynutrition.com Goat's milk recipe is:
1 cup goats milk (dilute somehow if canned)
1/3 cup Dannon yogurt vanilla full fat
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream.
The yogurt may stop the intestinal troubles for ya. I think this formula is not for full time use, just until you get the Fox Valley Nutrition Formula for squirrels.

My lil guy LOVED his goat milk formula, and he doubled in size! Try it! :D

Please change that formula asap! As it has been stated here, it is junk!
