O.K. so here it is.
About four hours ago my friend showed called freaked out because she found a baby sq. I suggested she leave it and see if mom would come.
She waited two hours and no momma.
It started pouring rain so I told her bring her in and I would come see.
Well she is aprox 4.5 weeks old eyes are closed and she is fully fuzzy with some tail fluff.
For whatever reason the baby is starved.
She is only as larg as her own head (weight soon)
I brought her and some ped. home.
She WILL NOT drink it!!!
She emits the super sq squeel any time I try to give her some!
She doesn't fight the syringe. She just WONT drink.
What should I do?
I know she needs to be hydrated before she is fed but she is in NEED of calories ASAP!!
PLEASE, PLEASE help.

it's ok.
it's normal for babies to refuse any unfamiliar food.
Besides, she is stressed out: everything is strange and she does not have her mother with her.
So, it's all normal.
A few things to check:
1. Does she have any injuries? any wounds? (could she be in pain?)
2. Is she warm? Before you feed her anything, she should be warmed up.
Set her up on a heating pad set on low under half of her container.
A cold baby won't eat.
3. Is pedi warm? if it is not, she may not eat it for that reason either.
If she does end up refusing drinking completely, she may need subQing.
But for now make sure she is really warm, and, maybe, for some time - just hold her and stroke her gently, so that she calms down a little bit.
Sometimes, when they are in great distress, they do not eat well either.

I have her curlled up with me.
She is atl east as warm as me.
Do you think it would be better me to contiue waking her up to try giving the ped or allow her to adjust for the night...
She was VERY scared when I got her but has already figured out that I won't hurt her.
How long should I wait before I take her to a vet if she doesn't start drinking?
Thank you for responding at the late hour.
