My 10 week old squirrel Charlie, has been acting strange lately... I've also noticed that he has no fur around his neck and on his cheeks. He has been very frightened and hides as much as he can, and I'm really getting worried. I still feed him milk, and he eats well. I also feed him HHB's and small pieces of banana, apple, and grapes. So i don't think diet is the issue. All of his other fur is also nice and soft, so.... Also, the bald spots look slightly irritated, a little pink... Please help!

can you post a pic?
have you read here on mange?
are his ears and eyes scaley, scabby?
If mange, Revolution Rx for domestics works well, it is selemectin , the sister to ivermec...

when you say milk, do you mean FV?

I dont have a camera nearby, but i may post pictures soon, the problem is he wont sit still long enough for me to take a picture. And yes, i mean Fox Valley :) He doesn't... SEEM scaly... if he does have mange, is it serious? Like, do i need to rush him somewhere? or can i order him what you mentioned online? hehe he keeps walking on my keyboard!

and I am sooo untechnical to help..
I right click and get a resize option. but that isn't to say you can..I have no clue...
I do know sqs can be fast fast:D hard to get a good pics..

you need a script for Revolution but not for ivermectin...
however if it made for horses and needs to be seriously diluted and I cannot help with that..
it is so very dangerous..and I always avoid using it period..
ask friends that have pets if they have any Rev..
all you need is a drop between the shoulders if it is mange mites..

At the risk of sounding stupid... I have flea shampoo for for cat, and i have that topical flea medicine that you put on their shoulders... its all natural... it most likely wouldnt be nearly as harmful as the horse stuff. But would it work? or could it be bad for him in some way?

The pic is so bad it is hard to see...does he slop formula all over his face and do you not get 100% of it cleaned off after feeding? I know my boy at 10 weeks was soaked, I was soaked, the kitchen was soaked... Formula left on the skin will "burn" it and the location - cheeks only, made me wonder...

The formula burn must be it! The baldness is completely symmetrical on his cheeks and his inner forearms! I just assumed he would clean himself at this age... Will the hair grow back? And is there a way to get him to sit still long enough to clean him?

Hehehe ok, I'll figure it out, i guess. So will the fur grow back?

Yes, it will grow back. I used a little square of a washcloth - it was floating in a bowl of hot water - and as soon as feeding was done I would grab it real quick, squeeze out the excess, and wipe, wipe, wipe. The warm helps a little, but frankly, as I am sure you have found out, a few grams of baby squirrel is more than able to take on and utterly confound any grown human...
