I just got this email:

"I do not know what happens. Last night the baby began to be agitated very agitated in its box to turn on itself quickly. He screamed several times. And now he is amorphous, not moving and no longer wants to eat.
The only difference is that I gave him pieces of zucchini yesterday.
What's going on?"

The baby is 6 weeksold and he has it for 4 weeks already.

I told him to stop the formula (FV) and start pedialyte..

Any other ideas?

Wonder if the zuccini gave him a gassy belly? Six weeks is a little young to start solids, except block. I would see if he can give him a few gas-x drops and then try to get some pedialyte into him.

I agree completely, very bad tummy ache. Why must some people push these babies beyond what common sense should tell them? Thwy wouldn't do that to a human baby!
Gas drops and maybe even a warm bath like for bloat.

THANK YOU!!

Richard has no experience with human baby either .. He just made a mistake and he is really panicking and worry now. :(

Also, have him take him out and get him moving around. Movement will also help to get that gas out. When there is gas, there is less room for food and eating can cause more gas, so many times they will just refuse. Tell him to give 2 drops of gas-x and then try to keep him out for a bit, crawling around before trying to give anything else. Then try offering some either pedialyte or actually even just plain water to get things moving in there.

Posting for Iwonka:

When she holds him he turns his head like a neuro baby - he didn't do that before. he does that when sitting in her hand. Concerned about the head tilting thing, he didn't do that before. He's about 5 or 6 weeks, more like 5. Can the pain make him react that way?

Iwonka gave him a bath & massage because his belly was hard. Did not poop since yesterday.

Yes...the head thing can also be a response to pain...
does he have horizontal nystagmus? (eyes shifting/ticking back and forth horizontally not vertically)
a small dose af Metacam will tell you one way or the other it should have an almost immediate effect.
If the ticking continues you can also try Childrens Benedryl...the diphenhydramine helps with motion sickness and can help slow or stop it temporarily.
Simethicone will break the gas into smaller more manageable/passable pockets.

Few pictures.. I made a video.. I'm downloading it now.

There is something "special" with this baby. Richard found him a 1 month ago. The baby was ~ 2 weeks old. He opened his eyes exactly 2 weeks ago. He should be at least ~8 weeks old but he looks like maximum 6 to me :thinking

He IS really cute, but his ears look like they are too low on his head. Maybe he's a Down's baby?

There is definitely something off...with his eyes, too. If he is a Downs baby, just love him as much as you can and enjoy his sweetness....they are usually not with us for very long. :(

Yeah, head shape is strange, eyes do look very sleepy, but not the 'I just opened my eyes' sleepy. And looks like kitten fur to me, too. Very strange. Very cute. He is on fv, correct?

I have a wild female who looked very similar! With boo balls and blocks daily she lost the kitten fur and I now cannot tell her from the rest of the mob! Her limbs were short, ears oddly spaced, head very wide... etc. etc. etc. She moved slowly and just didn't seem "normal". I considered trapping her, but opted to just care for her and keep an eye on her. It worked out perfectly!:grouphug

he may have an ear infection.. Antibiotics will help that.. smell the ear.. do they have a smell?

first thing I thought of when you described symptoms was my Gen. Jackson.

He had seizures and was blind and he would act like that when he had a seizure, hollering and all..

Hope that ain't what it is.

My last squirrel's seizure symptoms included the following: Abrupt running, as if scared suddenly and wants to "run away" from the seizure, then he would sometimes scream during the seizure. It was if he had a sudden shock of electricity in his brain and it scared him.

He would also be lethargic after wards and sleep. Perhaps it was an epileptic type seizure that my squirrel had.

The shock would tense his whole body and as I said earlier, those symptoms described made me think of seizure disorder.

I sure hope I am wrong and it is something else less serious.

Hugs
