I've been taking care of my first baby squirrel for 5 weeks now. I just got word that a friend found 3 babys and doesn't know what to do with them. Judging by pictures they're about 4-5 weeks old. They'll make great playmates for pinky.

The person that found them said she could take care of one, and another friend can take care of one. That leaves me with pinky and one more. At what age should I bring them all back together so they can learn from each other... or should I keep them all together now? I could probably make it happen if it's really the best... but taking care of 4 babys is goign to be a handfull.

Thoughts are appreciated!

Best to keep them all together right now. They need the comfort and companionship at this age especially. Will your friend let you have all of them?

I would probably just keep them together... but then again, I guess I'm a control freak. I wouldn't let anyone else take care of babies unless I knew they were totally qualified. Besides, sounds like they just want to have a novelty squirrel to me.

I actually haven't talked to them directly yet. I've only heard this 2nd hand and was wanting to get some info before I do talk to her as I know she'll be calling for advice.

It was suggested by "the middle man" on all this info that we split them up. I figured I'd ask the experts to see if that's a good or bad idea.

I'll let you know more once I talk to her directly.

Explain that you have extremely good expert help here! We will help you to raise healthy happy squirrels. Remind them that they don't want to "divide and conquer".:D

Well, it turns out that she called animal control or somebody else as well that beat me to them. :( I was really hoping to get a few friends for pinky. I still want to. Do you think there's a chance in hell that they'd give me one pinky's age so she has a friend to learn from? I'm not licensed in Indy so I'm guessing not. I guess I could see if I can pass the test.

NO, they will more likely confiscate the one you have.
