I thought I broke the habit a few weeks back but I guess not! :(

Ophelia has been sucking on Jonah again. His boy parts are a little bit red. He is eating, peeing and pooping fine.

I tried to separate them but she wasn't happy about that. I read a few posts on here and someone had suggested placing him in a tube sock. My question is, can he hang out in the sock while he's in his cage? I do take them out to play with a few times a day so he won't be stuck in a sock for hours on end.

Not sure if this matters but they are about 7 weeks old, eyes open and nibbling on Kaytee blocks. I am waiting on my order for some HHB's. They are 204/209 grams and eating 15 cc's every 4.5-5 hours. I know that's a bit over 7% but they seem so hungry.

What they are talking about is making a diaper out of a cut up tube sock and putting it on the male squirrel to protect his private. I have found that while they do work they are some times hard to keep on a squirrel so I use the coflex bandage like they use in the lab after you get blood work done..... I wrap it around there legs and private area and it stays on like a charm.

7 weeks is way too old for the sock trick. I would try feeding more and if that doesn't work you may need to split them up.

Thanks Rhapsody!! I made more like a onesie with a bigger sock and so far it works. I'll check him again in a bit to make sure he's comfy! :)

Sadly, he already wiggled out. I will head out later and try the coflex stuff...wrapping a squirrel should be fun ;)
