Hello,
I'm sorry I havent posted more since I found your forum. We've had quite a bit of flooding due to Isaac but we were so lucky copmpared to others.

I was given a baby squirrel almost 3 weeks ago now and so far so good. Have had to vet for checkuos, eating well, ect.
My question that I honestly hadn't thought of until this morning,,,what is best for him? Is is fair to make him a permenant member of our family or should I take him to a sanctuary?
I have just been so happy that he is thriving and not wanting to jinx it,,I ahdnt thought about the future.
We are very willing to give anything and everything but I want to make sure we are educated and that it is whats best for Spunk.
Any thought and advice would be wonderful!
I'll post more picts as soon as I firgure out how to resize;))
Thanks in advance,
Sonia

First: :thankyou for taking him in and caring for him.

Second: His future should be in preparing him to be released,
he is a wild animal and belongs in the trees as nature intended him to be.

Read the many sections with their different posts, that should answer so many questions. Then ask for anything you can't find listed-we love to help. This site has everything from soup to nuts on squirrel help.

Sonia;

I have raised and kept two grey squirrels, they were both injured when I got them and at the time I didn't know much about caring for them.

The first one is a female, she is now about three years old. The second one is a male and he is less than one year old. They live in separate cages, although next to each other.

I think they are happy, we love them and we take care of them and their needs as we do for our dogs and birds.

I saw on your profile you are an animal lover too and if you can provide what this little one needs, you can think about keeping him. This forum has helped me so much and people here are really knowledgeable.

You will find people with different views and different experiences. Like Anne said, read around here, you will find many beautiful stories. I just rescued three little girls and I am planning to make a huge sanctuary for them. Im blessed, I love them.:grouphug
