I'm feeling blue. Billy broke his right hind leg a few days ago and is limping around, getting chased by other male squirrels and unable to get away. He can lift his leg, but has trouble putting weight on it or using it to climb up or down. I'm about to leave for three weeks and can't even keep an eye on him.

I think Jimmy (my little love) hates me now. I don't know why, but he (and the others) have gotten paranoid around me. I fear my partner is yelling and swatting at them when I am not around. They just aren't as comfortable with me as they used to be.

And Sweetie Boy has totally disappeared. A really decomposed corpse appeared on our sidewalk in front of the house yesterday. Dead maybe for weeks. A dog must have drug it out from somewhere. Absolutely no way to tell who it was, but I fear the worst. The only thing that makes me feel better is that his pal is gone too. So, maybe he got chased off? :( :( :(

And the females growl and fight with each other whenever they see one another. Fatty Mama, Miss Sandy, and Bobbi. :shakehead Where did all my sweet squirrels go?

You've heard it a million times but nature is efficiently cruel, and cruelly efficient. That doesn't mean anything bad has happened to any of your guys, but it may have and that's just the order of things. I know you understand and love your outside kids (who also come inside!) the way we all love our rehab squirrels, and this has to be so sad to watch. Remember all the times that someone thought a squirrel was gone forever here on TSB, only to have him/her show up six months later with that expression on their face....."What? :dono" :)

hoping they are just having fresh free newly matured acorns..
the first crop of the season!
the girls are feeding babies so when the kids can be left, they'll be back, BE READY..:)

Well, I saw Billy this morning and he looked as though he was putting more weight on that hind leg and walking a bit more normally. It still looked weak, but he was not holding it stiffly. I guess if my boy can stay out of Buster's way, he will mend.

OK, this afternoon Fatty Mama, Miss Sandy, and Bobbi took turns coming in my window 40 feet above the garden without killing each other or even growling.:thinking Maybe things are looking up.:tilt

A sparrow also came in and had to be rescued and escorted out by me. I think it is a female who has adopted me.
