I have two little babies & i'm freaking out, long story short a tree trimmer found them & wanted to make snake food out of them, i have them on a heating pad (covered with a towel, half on half off the pad) they look about two Weeks old, i've been giving them esbilac (spelling?) Every two hours, one of them has been self suckling or suckled on, but he pees still, they both poop alot and i've noticed that one of them has been pooping a little looser than normal...i.can't find a small syringe anywhere, any tips?
All of this has me on edge, but if anyone could give me more tips and advice, I'd really appreciate it!!! Anyone in Tampa?

Im going to post a link for this in Life Threatening. I know there are members in Tampa. Please stop the Esbilac and start on the goats milk formula on here

Not in Tampa, but I believe a goat's milk recipe is preferred to Esbilac or Fox Valley. Regarding the self-suckling, a baby sock with the end cut off can be used to provide a protective barrier. I ALSO BELIEVE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE WARM AND REHYDRATED BEFORE OFFERING FOOD. There is a recipe on the board somewhere for the rehydration solution which has salt and sugar in it.(?)
I am not a rehabber. I hope someone will get on here soon that knows more.

Get goats milk at Publix or Walmart. Esbilac is or could be deadly when used too long. You can ask at the Pharmacy it they have a one cc syring and that you do not need the needle they will often just give it to you.

I have had them since Tuesday, but after reading through the forum a bit, i'm going to buy goats milk in the a.m, i rehydrated them with pedialyte...again sp?
Anyways, i just fed them & i have a very small syringe but it's in ml, i need to look up ml's to cc's till the morning & i will try the baby sock! Thank you for such quick responses!
I have raised & released before..but not this young!
& btw i'm sending this via phone so sorry if auto correct is going crazy!
They look wrinkly, is that normal? If i pull the skin up, it smooths pretty quick also

Did you do the pinch test and see if they were dehydrated or not?
Most new babies need to be warmed & hydrated when they first come in.
Homemade Pedialyte
1 cup warm water
1/4 tsp salt (teaspoon)
1 Tbsp sugar (tablespoon)
Once they are well hydrated 12 to 24 hours then you can start to feed them formula @ 5-7% of their body weight.
You can use our homemade goats milk recipe until your order of Fox Valley has arrived.... order some 1cc & 3cc syringes, nipples at the same time.
Homemade Recipe - until FV arrives
1 cup Goats Milk * (if can - dilute)
1/3 cup Full Fat Vanilla Yogurt
1/3 cup Heavy Cream (frig section)
(lasts 72 hours in frig)

Jackie, i have no idea what i am doing & i don't want these little babies to suffer from my lack of knowledge. I'm doing what i can, researching & all. Would there be anywhere i can take these little guys to have them looked at?
