Yay my order of FV finally got here!
Before I jump the gun I just want to ensure that it needs nothing added.
I was also wondering if I need to do the switch one part at a time or I can just start the fv at next feeding?

Full strength is 2 parts water to one part powder.

Switch gradually. Make up the FV and make up the GM formula he has been eating. Do a few feedings at 3/4 GM and 1/4 FV. If all is well, go to half GM and half FV for a few. If that looks goo, only 1/4 GM and 3/4 FV. and then your next step is straight FV.

Will do! :thankyou
Is the goats milk as good as the FV for the babies?
I know it sounds silly but right now they are so plump and happy right now and if they aren't required to switch over I wouldn't put their little bellies through it.
Will do what's best for them, I'm just curious!

The GM formula is a good short term substitute for FV. But at the end of the day, FV is the absolute BEST thing for them. If you do the transition slowly, their bellies will never know the difference.

OK 1 -- MIX it well ( stir for 60-90 seconds ) Use very hot , but not boiling water.
2-- Cover tightly and put in Fridge for 2 hour minimum ( 3-4 hrs. is best)
3-- Remove and stir well ( 30 seconds ) Do NOT shake, it will make bubbles.
4-- Fill syringes as needed . Return F.V jar to fridge.
5 -- After 24 hours...make a fresh batch.

The time in the fridge allows the FV to totally absorb the water. Feeding without waiting can upset the stomache.

Wow...Thank you for the info.
Bummer...
Will be sure not to let it happen again.

Lots of people use it right after it is mixed, but for best absorbtion, it is best to let it sit - gives the water a chance to completely mix with the powder, and so it digests better once it gets in the squirrel!

CritterMom is right on!! :thumbsup

Mixing it and feeding immediately will most likely not hurt them. I too, like to mix mine a few hours in advance...just to be safe...and it just sort of works with my schedule to do it this way.

I have been mixing it and giving it a few hours.:D
I can see how that would make it better for the little ones to digest.
Thank you all!
