View Full Version : George is making a "clicking" sound

George has developed a "clicking" sound and does not want to eat much at all. I can only get about 2 cc's in him at a time. I am worried he may have aspirated before I picked him up. I know he was not on a heating pad for the first 24 hours after he was found.
I got a scale today and weighted him. On Wed. per Kelly's scale he weighted 101 grams. Per the scale I got today he weighs 95 grams. Of course I panic attack, but my sister said it could have to do with the different scales.
I am going to Kelly's when she gets off today, but she suggest I post this to see if you guys had any thoughts. I was ready to call 911 :shakehead !

Clicking is definitely serious. How is his hydration? He might not eat if he is at all dehydrated. If you lift and release the skin gently between his shoulders does it go right down or stay up in a "tent"?
Oh forget me and listen to the experts! You are in great hands!

I checked that earlier and it did make a small tent. He is still pooping and peeing, just not eating like he was. How long does it take for pneumonia to set in?

We are back from Kelly's and yes we have pneumonia :shakehead , but we got meds and that wonderful stuff called yogurt in him! :multi that was great stuff.
Kelly was able to get 3 cc's in George and now he is fast asleep on his heating pad. My scales were right, he did weigh 95 grams but after formula with yogurt mix he was 98 grams. George is such a good little boy and loved all the kisses Kelly gave him. Thank you Aunt Kelly!!
I want to thank you all again for all the help and information. I am a very new MOM and I get excited when I don't know what to do... but I don't have to worry :thumbsup just jump on the board and post...help will come!
:grouphug to all of you guys!

George is doing better I think, not hearing the "clicking" sound as much. Didn't hear it at all this morning, but just a little at the last feeding about an hour ago. He is coming out to see us and was grooming himself this morning. I took that as a good sign. He has never done that before.
Been shopping this morning to get things for him and got my HHP order in the mail today...:wahoo Charging up the drill so I can make a box to put him in so we can take him out of the crate and he can see more. He looks much better today. Eyes wide open and bright. I think we caught this in the very early stages and he is going to be fine. Poop is now pretty hard so Kelly said give him a VERY small amount of diluted Apple juice (50/50) to loosen it up some. Only once a day. I would call it constipated in human life, but he is looking better and wants to come talk now. My question is does he have to stay on the heating pad all the time or can he roam around some?

:rotfl Jackie, right now he is in a pet carrier. LOTS of soft stuff, but I was going to make a clear tub (sterilite (sp)) type with holes in it. I saw a post on here somewhere that you posted about types of cages and stages. Think I could find that now...nooooo... Point me in the right direction... I am already looking into getting step up cages as they grow. Any suggestions?
He could stay forever as far as Ed is concerned, but we know the best place for him is on a tree...hawk free.. You tell me what to get and I will.

Let there be light!!! We changed his living quarters to a clear container. What a difference in this little boy. Wish I had known sooner to give them light. He was all over the place. Still warm and has a heating pad, but took 4.5 cc's for the first time. Now he is sleeping...mjs
