There was a thread I read the other day that talked specifically about pinkies but I can't find it now :/. Anyone know which one I'm talking about? It had a PowerPoint attached.

Do you have any of the tiny rodent nipples? What does this little one weigh? They are tough, but you can do this. Go very slow. Get out your magnifying glass, too! Those mouths are so tiny! I would do gm initially with this one, as well (with yogurt). Did you speak to Crystal? Wish I were close enough to help! Praying very hard. Break out the coffee, gonna be a long night.

Sassy,
I know you're gonna be extremely busy with this little guy, but if you have a few minutes, the link is for IR's pinky presentation. You can skip to the 4 Basics pretty fast. Hope it helps. Hey, I get it. I almost freaked when my niece came to the door with 3 pinky flyers in January. I hydrated them a few drops every hour. At 1 AM I switched to GM. Luckily I was able to pass them to Jackie. :peace
You can do it Sassy Sister!:alright.gif Yep, set up the caffeine IV drip. :)
sassysquirrel
08-21-2012, 08:47 PM
Don't drink coffee - and don't drink caffine drinks either
I got the Goat's milk (does it matter if it fresh - from the diary section?) that is what I got
It seems to be in good shape - it is not dehydrated - poops and pees for me very good
Did I also mention that I have 3 baby greys - eyes closed - by morning I will not even know my name
I am going to see if I can get some help - close to where I live - I am suppose to go out of town this weekend - but I can always take them with me
I am going to try to do my best - this little flyer maybe small - but boy can it talk - more like scream - makes more noise than the greys LOL
pappy1264

No, fresh is fine, but break it down into freezer bags and freeze it, as it sours quickly once opened. I like using small freezer bags, as you can soak them in water to defrost and use. Do not add anything when freezing, but add a little yogurt to the one you are using. No heavy cream. Try working up to eventually the 50/50 with the gm/fv, but for the next day or two, stick with gm w/yogurt. Have you gotten a weight yet?
OMG....baby greys too? Are you going for sainthood????? OMG!!

When my husband got home tonight and I showed him the little flyer - He said the picture I posted does not do him justice - He is a lot smaller - He just could not get over how small he is - just imagine trying to feed one of those big bumble bees - that is how big he is - maybe not even that big!
Still holding his own - eating peeing and pooping - so I guess that is a good sign

New pics of the baby
Thought I'd mention that when feeding, tilt the babe a bit further forward.
It's unnatural for them to eat when verticle or on their back.
That helps reduce the chance of aspiration.

Normally I have been - but we were trying to get some pics - my husband is just amazed how small this little guy is
Still doing good this morning
His skin seems to be getting a little dry - I have the damp cloth under the container inside another container - and I have been putting a little water downed lotion on him - being careful to stay away from the nose - the lotion is cetaphil unscent and no dyes/perfumes - I used this on Sassy when she was a pinky and it helped her - it seems to being helping this little guy also
3 greys are doing great 1 opened their eyes - the others are younger
going back to bed

When you get up, put a piece of water saturated sponge in a little dish in his enclosure over the heat.

Also, if you can get some aloe juice, you can mix some with warm water, and take a cotton ball and gently rub some on her and put back on heat.

Thank you to everyone!
Things are still going well - eating peeing and pooping
I took him to one of my rehabber friends (who is no longer able to rehabb) and she said he looked very very good - not dehydrated and his weight looked good - so atleast I am doing it right
She is going to help me this weekend so I can get a break - YEAH! she said he still had a ways to go - and prepared me for it he did not make it - she said they are just so delicate - but thought he had a great chance

It is a boy - I have been afraid to name him - afraid he might die
But he is doing good so far - and your right - just a feeding at a time - I get very scared when it is time to feed - I slowly feel for him and then we he is moving - big relief
3 grey babies are doing good - 2 of them had a small bout of diarrhea - but tonight was better
I have 2 baby greys - that I have not even named yet - brain is slowing working since little flyer arrived

He now has very very runny poop - Is there anything I can do?
He is on the goats milk formula with some added fox valley
pappy1264

Are you mixing the goats milk with anything (the yogurt and cream? If so, I would back off using the cream, just the yogurt).
sassysquirrel
08-28-2012, 07:19 PM
yes - i am mixing it with whipping cream and yogurt and then adding some fox valley to it - so i will stop using the cream - thanks

poor little Duke died this morning - he had blood coming from his nose - he was perfectly fine just a hour before ???? (husband fed him last - he is afraid he did something wrong - i tried to tell him he didn't - he is feeling bad)
poor little guy tried to make it - and he was doing so good - he was getting bigger and growing lots of hair - sooo sad

I didn't realize Duke was the flyer. OMG. I am so very sorry. Maybe that is what the spot on his head was. Blood from the nose is very often from a brain aneurysm/head injury. RIP sweet baby.
