I have a 6 weeks old baby with diarrhea for 2 days .. The stools are "mucused" but not very frequent. Oli has been with me for almost 3 weeks, usually a big eater, he lost his appetite.

There is also the peculiar smell in his cage ... as a "sour smell"

:thinking

Oli is 180g and Oskar is 140g.
I gave them 0.07cc and 0.06cc.

I know my maths, but I'm so worried about my babes, I'll even confirm that the 2+2 is really 4 :hidechair

I believe Psychobird uses Baycox - may want to PM her.

Did you get a new batch of formula? Are you giving extra fluids? I would, and I would also give by itself, some plain yogurt to help their guts. Baycox is great for coccidia. I will see if I can check on the dosages with Jodi (I have not used it yet, but will if I deal with coccidia again. I know others who have used it with great results.) Are they still eating? Watch for slowdown on that, and as I said, I would give extra fluids (plain water) to help keep that hydration up (they can dehydrate extremely quick and will make digestion harder.)

No, no new batch of formula.
Yes, they didn't eat much this morning .. I give them water with a drop of maple syrup.
I give them also Bene-Bac.

I do not understand why they had this:dono .. I keep everything really (!) clean ...

In addition, I received a six weeks old baby yesterday .. Very skinny with very advanced pneumonia. I have not slept and I'm tired ... :osnap

This stuff really works!!! Oli's appetite is back and his poop is almost perfect!

I found it a little expesive but now I would pay 300$ for half of it! :D

Oskar and Missy still have diarrhea :(

Oskar's one is light green.. is this mean something?

Don't know if this is relevant or not but Jett's poop was slightly greenish too at one point and sort of mucous-like... it never did have a sour smell however. In his case the Imodium did the trick for him but I had to use it twice before it worked - 6 hours apart. :shakehead He's doing well now but he's still on 50-50 GM-FV (both at full strength though); been transitioning him very slowly. Don't know if this can help or not. :dono

I hope the other 2 take a turn for the better too. :grouphug

Could green poop be giardia (this what they say for dogs)? :dono What is the treatment for this in squirrels? :thinking
:grouphug Hope the other :Love_Icon 2 babies :Love_Icon get well soon! :grouphug

How are the babies ?? Are you seeing improvement in the other 2 ?
How is the New Addition...still clicking ??

iwonka

I do not see a large improvement in Oscar and Missy .. Still have diarrhea. So I decided to repeat the dose of medication. The dose is so small (0.04cc), that perhaps for the first time it got lost somewhere. This time, I gave them water from the same syringe. We'll see.

The new Addition (I don't have name yet) is taking bactrim so clicking is gone. However, he may have a BIG problem on top of the pneumonia.. :( You will find all info here: http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35727

.. and his brother has been found 1 day after him :thumbsup

I do not understand what's going on but I have a hospital at home ... I feel down...

Iwonka, don't be depressed!! You do such a wonderful job caring for these little ones. Just think where they would be if they didn't have you. Every single squirrel that is helped by you or any other TSB'er is much better off than it was before. Even the ones that don't make it pass in the hands of a loving, caring person, warm & fed, and not lying alone somewhere. :Love_Icon :Love_Icon :Love_Icon
