Acer needs your prayers

My little Acer woke up this morning with a stuffy nose, kind of like a cold. Ate like a little champ. His poo's are still watery from his bout with coccidia but otherwise was doing really well.

Still had stuffy nose at his 11:00 feeding but ate well again.

At 3:00 he only ate 1cc and started sneezing and did not want any more.

By this time I had been in touch with Jackie and was starting him on antibiotics.

I have been checking on him every 1/2 hour or so and his breathing is worse. When I pick him up he kind of has a guppy mouth breathing.

This little guy has had a rough start in life, was pulling himself off heat and losing weight. Over the past 5 days he was improving steadily so I though he was over the hump and on his way to full health.

His eyes just opened today and they are bright and curious despite his struggles.

Please pray for my beautiful, sweet Acer.

He may just be a failure to thrive baby or have some sort of deficiency.
Are the others doing well?
You know they can get pneumonia from being weak or malnutritioned.
Aspiration pneumonia is specific to something geting in their lungs.
Obviously he is being given good nutrition, but if his body is not digesting it well,
that could cause him to become weak and sick too.

I have a car as of today so if you need any meds you don't have I can bring them over after work tonight.
Can you get him to Dr. E and see if she can examine him?

Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers for him.

He ate nearly 2 1/2 cc's at 7:00. I would feed .5, make him rest, feed more, and so on. His breathing is still laboured but he is still here and his appetite is giving me hope.

Karen I will send you a text. I agree his tough beginning is the reason for his most recent troubles. He was the sickest and I really thought he was over the worst of it and now he has a new and more difficult fight. My poor little guy.
I started him on antibiotics..Jackie helped with dosage. She said to start all of them on SMZ - I already dosed them with the Albon today but should start tomorrow with the "good stuff". Tomorrow would be fine and I could go your way.
Congrats on your new car:multi Keep up the prayers for our boy. I will be sleeping with him all night.

Acer has some fight left in him.
He is definitely gasping with each breath, but active (not lethargic) so
that is promising. He has meds, is cozy and has his squammy's undivided attention, so for now all he needs is our prayers! :grouphug

3AM this morning I got worried when I found him curled up and not moving but when I picked him up he looked like he was breathing easier. I gave him a little bit of sugar water cause he thought it was breakfast time.

At 5AM he looked amazing.!!

At 6:30 breakfast he sucked down 3cc's.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I know he is not out of the woods yet but he is no longer at deaths door.

Karen....thank you for coming by with the SMZ, I am thinking it must have made the difference.

Crazy4squirrels and Jackie - I also seperated him and ran a vaporizer. I also dabbed some baby vicks vapor rub in his cage and rubbed just a little right on his nose.

Acer sure has alot of loving coming from his TSB aunties and uncles.:thankyou




Once I trust that he is totally out of the woods I will take a picture of him so you can look into his newly opened eyes.
