Anyone know if English Peas are ok for squirrels?
I've never bought them, someone gave me a pack of them.
They are gigantic!

Hammy eats them sometimes if the mood is right...he's spoiled rotten. I thaw out frozen peas and just feed him a couple.:)

I guess I should elaborate...the English Pea has a huge pod. Usually people don't eat it, it is very fibrous. Wondering if I can cut the pods up and feed them to the squirrels or if I should just remove the peas.....? :dono

i give Itchiku Chinese sugar snap peas in the pod. As he's so small it would be like giving an English pea in the pod to a normal squirrel. It was the first vegetable he would eat as a baby. He never eats the pod. He just rips it open, peels the peas and eats them. So you could try them in the pod. I usually top and tail them first and remove the stringy bit from each side.

Good morning Djar,

I find that English peas are only available certain short times of the year here. Richard LOVES them. He is not interested in the pod and sometimes won't take the time to tear them open to get to the yummy peas inside.
So of course, I do it for him.:D

I have given all of my squirrels English Peas, pod and all for a long time. None have ever eaten the pod. Only the good stuff inside:D

:thumbsup Thanks everyone!

Kelly, I plan to cut them in 4 pieces so they have easy access to the pea but can still nom on the pod if they see fit.
Will report back the results. :D
