Weaning Question

Milly is a foxy, about 2 months old. She is refusing formula for 2 days and
eats only solid foods. She is such a little squirrel too, doesn't seem to grow.
Her tail gets bushier and she is fit as she can be, just so small. I do offer
formula in a bowl, but she only goes for the water.

This is the baby I got 3 weeks ago that was being pushed out of the nest
by the mother. The people who found her kept putting her back, but no go.

I have never experienced the situation that the baby weans herself, and then
this fast...you think that's ok to go from 7 ml every 4 hours to nothing over
night?

Hi Miss D....I've only had grey squirrels, not foxers, but it's not unusual for an 8-wk old gray to suddenly lose interest in formula. I had two last summer who gave it up at that age and you know, they were a little smaller than average, too. But they still grew up fast and wild and ready for the world. As long as Millie is eating a good balanced diet and has healthy fur and tail she is probably fine. She might even take a little formula once in awhile in the future -- from a dish, though, not a syringe. Keep offering it to her, once in awhile. Can't hurt.

Wow, thanks! That really eases my mind. All squirrels from last year where
still coming back for the syringe after being released at the age of 5 months.
