too much... too fast... = bloat,
get some gas-x and put his bottom in some warm water to help get the gas out, no food until his belly goes down.
When you feed him go very slow, dont let him suck it down fast, also be careful when you mix it , do not shake so there are millions of tiny bubbles in it,

Is he bloated?

Maybe a little. What does it feel like? Healthy full belly feels soft and squishy like a half filled water balloon. Bloat is more tight - like an air filled balloon.

Poss? - is his little tummy soft to touch or is it hard?
Make sure you are only feeding him 5-7% of his body weight every 4-6 hrs.

Ok thanks. How long should I leave him in the water I don't want him to get cold. I did once for a few minutes already.

I'm not sure where he got it but we found him a week ago and it is healing up really well. we are putting antibiotic on it twice a day.

How long should I leave him in the water.I would go for a good ten minutes...... making sure the water stays warm and that you rub his tummy, sides and back the entire time - then dry completely and place on heating pad with blanket.

Well I soaked him and I saw two tiny air bubbles come out and he also went number two. His belly looks better and feels more mushy.

Can you get goats milk? They sell it in the grocery store (and some sell the powdered goats milk, as well, so you can mix up what you need). You can freeze the liquid in ice cube trays to use as needed, as well. Goats milk is easier on their tummies, esp. when they are small, and you can mix it 50/50 with the fv, as well. I just raised a little one from 12 grams, and have done pinkies in the past, and I am very happy with using the goats milk in these little ones. Just a suggestion. Are you making sure his milk line is gone before you feed him again?

How long will it take for the bloat to go away?

No - just using the Fox Valley is not bad...... many of us even add a little vanilla yogurt to the mix as they get a few weeks older to help with their digestive system.

The bloat can go away quickly if you follow the advice given on this page..... use fox valley only, feed slowly, feed every 4 hrs, soak again if needed, watch for the milk line on his belly to be gone in between feedings (you will see it - its a white line straight across the belly).

Is usingjust Fox Valley bad?

This is ALL I use. You do not have to add anything to it if your baby does well on it, which most do. It was specially formulated for squirrels (not puppies, who are carnivores) by a man named Nick Vlamis who used to work for Esbilac but got fed up with them.

Since the Fox Valley is coming in today I would not go changing any thing, but maybe a little extra water and mix all you need for the day in the morning (best to use an egg whisk)........ just make sure you slowly introduce the new fv formula to him with a few days of mixing it at 4/1, then 3/1, then finally 2/1.
