Hi All! Is coconut ok for squirrels? My son brought some home today and Max went crazy for pieces of it and then I realized I didn't see it on the pyramid list... :thinking I won't let him have anymore until I know for sure. He isn't happy with me. :shakehead

Hi
Im in Costa Rica and my two boys...Rama Rota and The CRUISER Dude...love coconuts and they also drink the coconut water from the green coconuts that grow almost everwhere.
Some folks say it gave their squirrels diarrhea.
Others will chime in soon.............

Mine LOVE it, I just give them a very small piece in the afternoon as a treat, too much will give them the runs.

I think diarrhea is more of a problem for squirrels that don't normally eat them in the wild.
Itchiku loves the water but is not so keen on the flesh. The water is good as an electrolyte drink on hot days.
So, as others have said, not too much and see how it goes.

Thanks for the heads up on the diarrhea, that would not be fun! :thankyou Max did well with the amount he had yesterday, I will let him have more tomorrow as a treat. Its nice to find food he really likes, he is such a picky one. :tilt

I made Talula work for it. I gave her the entire Coconut and she had to chew to the center. She only ate little bits. Never got diarrhea from it and I would just throw it away at the end of the day.
