Can anyone help?
Terrible storm last night 2 baby robins (some feathers, not much) have them in the nest with a heat lamp off to the side as not to overheat them, i have been given them moist chopped up dog food. Anything else i need to be doing?
cant find any help online, so i am back here!

Do you have a heating pad? Heat lamps are not a good idea. Sending this to a bird rehabber. Where are you located?

They will need to be fed every 20 minutes during the day.
They do not eat at night, so not to worry.
What kind of a container do you have them in?
No water by mouth.
I have used dry cat food, soaked in water until really mushy.
Put it on a long tweezers or something similar and get the food way in the back of their mouth, they should open pretty wide, but be careful not to poke anything.
They can also eat mealworms that you can probably buy at Petco, Petsmart or any place that they sell exotic pets, etc.
Get something like a shallow margarine container and put lots of kleenex in to support them
and to catch their poop.
Most likely when they poop, they will lift their butts up and do it over the side,
that's why I suggest something a little on the shallow side....approximately 2 1/2 - 3 inches deep.

i have them in the original nest!
i will put heating pad under them, they have been eating every 20 mins mushed up canned dog food. I am using a long nipple to get in deep in there mouths.
I am Outside of O.C NJ
will the heating pad penetrate the nest enough?

Yes, you only need to keep it on low, we don't want them to overheat. Can you post a picture? Sounds like you have done this before...:poke :D

Are they about this size or smaller?

Well you seem to know what your doing, the food, the warmth...eveything seems good to me. Are you looking for a rehabber to take them? I think we went through this before not too long ago. Not many people in your neck of the woods it seems...:shakehead

I just resized your photos a little.
You could put a light flannel/fleece/tissue whatever over the nest, just sort of drop it on them, no tucking in. That will keep them a little warmer and allow the heat from the pad to stay in the nest better.
Remember, mama still sits on them at this size.:D

Thanks Nancy!
i do have a fleece over them about 3/4 of the way.
Anything else i should be doing?

If you have access to some worms you can chop those up and feed on a chopstick ( mimicking the mothers beak down their throat) as you can with the dog food. Make sure you cover the box with a towel and keep in the quietest place in your house as birds get easily stressed.

the one who won't eat you may have to force
go get some exact parrot hand feeding formula
but put your order in for mazuri right away
exact isn't enough for them but it's better than nothing
http://www.squirrelsandmore.com/rehab-supplies/bird-rehab-supplies/mazuri-nestling-handfeeding-formula.html

how i force is pull up some exact into a 1 ml syringe
open beak and put a very very small amount in like 0.05 and let him swallow, repeat
try to get at least 1/2 cc to 1 cc into him
can't be on much today, moving every into either pre release or new reptariums today

i was so hopeful when they made it thru the night!
i hope its not too late. Do i pick them up individually and try to pry open the beak gently?

Approach them from above as the mama bird would do. I usually hold them at this age when I feed...try that and when you approach do it quickly, like mama would do....:thinking :dono
Just remember when picking up, wings IN.....I know you know that...:D

when i force i don't pick em up usually, it's easier for me to open the beak and sorta hold my finger in the way so they can't close while i grab the syringe
whatever works for you though

Have you tried tapping on top of their beaks lightly over and over with the syringe?
