I have my gerbils in a fish tank, with a cage topper on it. I was sitting in the room and noticed Runty, the younger gerbil flailing at the top of the bars. She managed to get her mouth stuck open on two of the bars at the top of the cage. My boyfriend and I used a key to pry the bars far enough apart where she could release herself. However, it looks like she may have sustained a broken leg in her own attempt to free herself :shakehead
I want to take her to the vet - but before I do, is there anything a vet CAN do? I don't want to pay for the visit unless there it will be beneficial.
I have been in the room with her writing a paper for the past 2 hours, so I was fortunate to see / hear her quickly! And yes... I already removed the cage topper. She is in the bottom with Momma on her carefree bedding :Love_Icon
EDIT: It's her back, right foot.
