My two babies are about 10-11 weeks old now and very antsy to get out. I have been waiting for the one to mature as far as his brother and finally think he may be ready within the next few weeks to start a slow release..
I have a few issues and i am wondering what your suggestions are.. but first i also know i need to do a lot of research on how the actual release process works best..
First of all- I live in an apartment... YES I KNOW... I would give anything to keep these babies until i can buy a house and release them in my yard where i can keep a watchfull eye on them... So much so that i started looking at houses now and have an appointment with a mortgage director at my bank...
Anyway... Thinking that i will not be out of my apartment by the time they need to be released or at least started on that process... I was hoping i could build something somewhat small to hide within the property of my apartment complex or the small trail/park area that is walking distance from my yard... Across the street is a bunch of trees and brush and i could probably do best trying to set them up there... I thought as far as to ask the neighbors who live across from my small apartment complex if i could keep something on their property for a short while.. (i can take pictures of these areas as well)
The park (i call it a park but its not really) consists of a small track for walking.. people walk dogs on leash there and sometimes i see kids playing football there but generally its pretty quiet and there are a bunch of trees lining the park cutting it off from the complex.. So i thought that was an option.. but a huge obstruction clearly would be noticed by any park official or may be reported by who knows who.. and that leads to trouble..
I also thought about this when maybe affixing something to a tree- but again i dont own any of the trees or property...
Plan B- (or prob Plan A) I have three people within 45 minutes of me all of which have a lot of land on a farm or in the woods.. all of these places worry me because of the predators i know are there.. foxes, barn cats, racoons... who knows what else.. But those are the three best places i can think of where i could legally(kind of) keep a release cage of any size for proper release..
You can see my issue? I also wouldnt be able to watch these little guys as much as i can and if they are in another persons yard and cant expect them to..
So im just looking for your thoughts.. or even a link to a general release page- my fiance is a contractor so the cage will be no problem and ive found a lot of links here to help us build one..
Hopefully my mortgage talk this weekend will go well and then i can just buy a larger cage until i have a yard of my own.. heres hoping :dono
