We have a little one with a degloved tail, was kidnapped by a crow and dropped in finder's yard... no nest around, mother nowhere in sight. Here are some pics.
Iwonka asked me to post here, finder is bringing the baby to her. Advice please: 171849171850

Unfortunately I can't I don't have the baby here. Those are finder's pics - I think he was trying to show baby's age :dono He described the injury as part of the tail sticking out of the skin, bloodied & seeing the bone, he said. He will be going to Iwonka's later. She asked for the info so she could best handle it when he'd get there.
I'm thinking, pain killers (infant Ibuprofen?) & polysporin? Seems bandage would be useless since this baby looks old enough to just rip that off.

I think that the end of the tail will eventually just fall off. There really is nothing that can be done at this point other than to keep an eye on it.
My very first squirrel, the same thing happened, and he started itching his tail and more would come off. My vet put gauze and vet wrap around it, and then would clip back the dead part when she rechecked.
You can put a dap of neosporin on it. Other than that, I don't think there should be a problem. My little one with the vet wrap around the tail and then what he ended up with.

I have had several over the years who had degloved tails. The dead part will eventually drop off. Baby won't have a beautiful bushy tail, but will otherwise be fine. Just keep antibiotic creme on it as best you can. Thank goodness a cat didn't get the tail.

Thank you Mitch for posting! Thank you SSM, Nancy and Anne :highfive
The baby is very cute .. it is quiet, so it was easy to take care of him first.
Michael drove one hour to bring it to me. I like people like that.:bowdown The baby is a boy .. guess how I'm going to name it?
We have 2 problems here.

Poor thing was so hungry he had begun to suckle on himself. Iwonka washed it off in warm water, scab is gone now and he now can pee... at 1st he couldnčt pee because of the scab.
