A coworker just called. The family dog brought them a bun, but they think it may have been cat caught first. She putting him on fleece in a tub over a heating pad if she can find it or with a rice buddy if she can't. She'll bring the bun to me in the morning at school. I told her I would try to get it to a rehabber.
If you can give me a name & contact info, please send it to my email. I'll get that immediately on my phone: ww2.vw@sbcglobal.net
Also if you've got info to help me out until I can get this little guy into proper hands, I'd love to hear it. I have FV, pedialyte, and one little dose of baytril on hand.
Thanks guys :wave123

Great. Looks like I'll be raising a bunny. Help needed. If he made it through the night, he should be here any time now.
Do I start hydrating immediately? Pedialyte or just water? Use the same nipple as with the sqs?

I am the last to give bun bun advise, I have only just recently rehabbed my first two..
I did use a mothering silicon nipple, same as I use for the sqs, and a Oring 3cc syringe, FV 32/40..
Yes. I would start emergency treatment if they need it, hydration etc..
TSB has several really sharp bunny peeps..
there are also two other current threads about bunny care...
I was so afraid of them but it wasn't as scarey as everyone made it out to be, but my house is very quiet and I kept them outta the main stream!
Someone will be here soon with critical care info..
I hope the babies are stable when you get them...good luck:grouphug

She just arrived. Her name is Honey (Daaawww). Her eyes are open and I haven't found any wounds. Mom was mortally injured by the cat and the sibling was killed.
Her eyes are open and she's fully furred but really small -- maybe 4" long? She doesn't have any visible injuries. No blood. She's resting in a recycled tub with a fleece blankie and a rice buddy.
I'm going to give her some pedialyte after she's had a little while to calm down from all the activity this morning.

Anybody? Anybody?
Somebody know another board where I can get help raising this little bun singlet?
I gave her some pedialyte from a medicine dropper. She took quite a bit. How long do I do this before starting formula? I remember there's something weird they need in their formula.

Ok, eye dropper is not good to use, they easily aspirate. You will need a 1 cc syringe (initially, when older, I use 3 ccs). On heat, low, under half the enclosure. They stress really easily, so dark and quiet. Cetotrophes (I know I spelled that wrong). It is a certain type of poop rabbits do (at night, I believe). I have never used them, have always used probiotics (I use Peter's rabbit probiotics), but Benebac makes one for mammals, too. You will need a gram scale to keep an eye on weight. Pedialyte for the first 24 hours to hydrate and flush out any old milk in them. Also VERY IMPORTANT, to potty them (I do it before and after). How old is this little one? Eyes open or closed? Ears up or down?
Sorry, didnt' see the other posts (very strange). If a cat was involved, Baytril is needed. Even with no visible injuries, cat saliva is deadly to bunnies. Do you have a vet you can get Baytril from?

I was using the dropper so I could feed her a single drop at a time. No good?
Eyes open but doesn't look like it's been for long. Ears down I think? I mean they aren't attached, but they don't stand up. Sorry I just haven't dealt with baby buns ever.
I have a single .25 dose of Baytril on hand. No easy access to a vet.
How much pedialyte you think I should be giving her at a time? And how much formula? I will get her on the gram scale when I get home tonight. Is the stage 2 FV formula for squirrels okay for buns? That's what I have right now.

Never mind. Just checked on her again. She's dead.

Awww, I'm so sorry. Bunnies and cats (and most other critters) are never a good thing. RIP little one.

Between my sqs being so sick and losing this little bun, my confidence is really taking a hit.
