My friend brought over a newly "abandoned" baby. He's healthy, but very small for his age.

His eyes are open, and I would have to place him close to the age of my squirrels. Possibly a few days behind

I would think in this case, I could put them all together but he's SO MUCH SMALLER than my squirrels. They are GARGANTUAN for their age! My "babies" are around 200 grams at 6 weeks-ish. The new babe, I haven't weighed him yet, but I can't imagine he's more than 120 grams. Come to think, that's probably a NORMAL size for a 5 week old baby. Mine are just abnormal ROFL!

Will he be okay if I put him in with my guys? Should I wait until he's acclimated and maybe grown a bit?

Help would be appreciated!

I would put him in with them as soon as he is ON THE SAME FEEDING SCHEDULE as they are. If you are feeding him more often right now, or hydrating between feedings, keep him separate. There is no way to feed one baby squirrel and not all the others in the same container without causing mayhem, madness, and..um.....major peepee suckage :shakehead.

.major peepee suckage :shakehead.

BAH! :rotfl :jump :rotfl

Good plan. I just feel bad that he's all alone... It'll probably take me a week or so to get him on the same schedule, since he seems a little bit younger. But see, he has his top teeth already (I know this because when I took him out he latched onto my finger with vengeance :rotfl) and my guys just started growing their top teeth a few days ago.

I don't know. I wonder if FV has some serious growth hormones in it :poke My other babies are just so freaking huge that I wonder if it's natural or a side effect of the artificial feedings (you know, kind of how formula fed human babies have a steeper growth curve than breastfed babies?)

Grey squirrels just differ SO much, it's truly impossible to go by age or weight. I am sure you can ramp up the new kid to the others' schedule by Thursday. :)

Well, I just brought the others down to 4 feedings a day... yesterday. I might just go back to 5 feedings and then I'll get them all in the same cage faster...
