View Full Version : Slightly Overweight
Is there any cause for alarm if my squirrel is a tad overweight? I've been busy with school and have had a family member feeding him sometimes when I'm not at home so I haven't been able to pay close attention to his diet until now. All is well except that he's a little fat. I'll work on finding a good balance of food to thin him out over the next few weeks, but wanted to know if it's alright if he stays a tad pudgy in the meantime. Thoughts?

the link above is to the HEALTHY DIET.
This is pretty standard feeding habits for squirrels, any deviation can lead to a vitamin def/imbalance.
Metabolic Bone Disease is real.
Not sure what you are feeding and the history of your sq, please tell us your story and we love love love pics!:thumbsup
Alot can figure into sq health, caging, activity and the deadly phosphorus overload...
It is also recommended that all captive sqs have a basic block everyday..
are you using any block food?
Too much sugar can and will lead to diabetes... please read and apply the Healthy DIET! TY
