Hi Everyone! I am writing to find out some information on Baytril. Jackie from Tampa has been helping me out with this :thankyou :D But now i am just being paranoid and want to make sure I can use what i have available to me...

I have Baytril injectable solution 2.27% for dogs... is this safe to use in squirrels?? (i know some people dont agree with off label use.. but most stuff is safely converted fine)

Also from the info i gathered and Jackie gave me i found that a 5% baytril solution is usually given to squirrels at 10mg/kg..
If im using a 2.27% solution is it safe to say i should dose 20mg/kg oral??

That is if this solution is okay to use in squirrels which i think it is?

Any help would be appreciated. Im home with all my supplies and scale and ready to dose .. just need some info first.

Thanks everyone!!

Dr. G said: Always move the decimal over one to the right and that's the mg/ml. So, 2.27% is 22.7mg/ml.

Hope this helps

Everything is off label use in sqs except HHBs!:D

Found out my monkey boy weighs 210 grams!!! What a big boy! :D I gave him 10mg/kg and he took it like a champ!!! So glad he didnt seem to mind the taste but i made sure to compensate by giving him his feeding immediately after followed by some yummy treats :) Runt Baby somehow got through the barrier i created in their cage last night but didnt touch monkey because this morning everything looked okay. Reinforced the barrier between the two this morning and will give the second dose tonight... Already can see the swelling going down and he is peeing on his own! Not getting too excited yet until we are finished with treatment and he is 100% better!

THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! Jackie and Nancy you both were such big helps for me and my little one! I appreciate it so much!! Ill keep you posted as we continue treatment! :grouphug
