can anyone help? We found a squirrel in an abandoned cage seems he got stuck in it. Not sure how long hes been in there but he's very lethargic and gasping for air. We put him in a show box, layered it with several layers of coth and put a heating pad at the bottom. He seems to be getting a little better, but not much and he just keeps gasping for air. Is there anything else we can do for the little guy ? Any advice is appreciated

Hopefully someone will be on here to help soon - make sure heating pad is half and half under the box - can you tell if it is a adult squirrel or baby????

It very well could be dehydrated if not heat stroked. Please go to this thread and read procedure for getting fluids into this baby. Go slow.

:thankyou for freeing and trying to help this little one, please try to do what you can and keep us informed. It sounds like he's been trapped for quite some time and I'm sure he's very stressed along with whatever else is going on with him. I hope he can improve... :grouphug
