Fed Pedi and Ensure only!

Posting this for Iwonka.

She will be picking up a baby today: eyes closed. Since April 17th was fed only pedialyte and Ensure daily. Something like a few pedi pre day and Ensure.

What should she do?
Should she give the baby some water with maple syrup? for hydration?
Or just plain water?...
Or should she give the baby diluted Fox Valley for a few feedings? and gradually build it up?

No more pedi -- this baby is probably over-salted already :shakehead
I would do 1/2 Ensure 1/2 FV for a couple of feedings, then increase the FV until he's on pure FV. Since Ensure is much sweeter, she may have to take 1-2 days to switch the baby over to FV because it will not taste as "junk-foody" :D

I spoke to Iwonka who is still in the car driving home and the update on the new baby :Love_Icon is that she seems in good shape, is not skinny (maybe is even a bit fat), and for the poops all Iwonka can say with certainty so far is that there is no diarrhea. :grouphug

Iwonka just got home and has a further update: the baby looks healthy, is in overall good condition, and she did her first poop: a beautiful normal yellow poop :wahoo !

Iwonks should get busiest baby rescuer so far this season from where I am sitting.
I know there are many out there with LOTS of babies, but where are you??
how many does she have now??

I just spoke to Iwonka. At the moment she has 7 (she just handed 4 to Astra and this week she handed over 4 others to a lady near my town). Still, the way the SPCA keeps calling that number is bound to go up.

Next week-end we<re building the release cage(s)!!!

Astra: I know your hands must be full now with the 4 she gave you :) but keep us posted!

P.S. I just spoke to Kristie, in Pierrefonds; she'll call you tomorrow. Trying to see if we can get her some FV until her order arrives. If you can't lend her any then I will; mine is the 20/50 but I think it will do if it's just for a couple of days, no?
