I just came across a baby rabbit - 2 of its siblings have been de-capitated by a cat but we found this little one kicking its hind legs. We ran to the car and got water which we poured onto our fingers and then to its mouth.
we stopped and bought fruit flavoured pedialite - I don't know the recipe for regular pedialite. I have it home now on a warm blanket. Found some Henry's vitamin powder and mixed it with yogurt and I have whey powder but I don't really know how to administer the first feedings to help this little baby. He is moving only slightly but I think it is traumatized. Has small puncture wound on back of head - any advice would be so appreciated. Thanks - Beulah.

Oh sweet lady, hold on. :grouphug I am going to try to find help. I did bunnies years and years ago, and have no clue. Let me try to find someone.:grouphug :grouphug
No not give it anything by mouth now as I know their tummies are very delicate. You can try a little bit of pedialyte by mouth warm it up and feed upright. Put the container half on heat and half off...on LOW.
I will be right back.

First off, he is most likely in shock, gethim on a getting pad on low, in a dark, quiet place. Only pedialyte tonight. Due to cat involvement, baytril is needed, even if you do no see injuries, as cat saliva is deadly. Can you get a weight on it? Right now, you have to worry about shock, so get the heat and very slowly give small amounts of pedialyte, very warm, to treat for shock. If he makes it through the night, will get you started on formula. Are his eyes open or closed? Ears tight to head or standing up?

are the babies eyes open or closed?
I am not a bunny person, I have taised a couple..
I do know they can die from anything scarey..They pass very easy... any stress, injury is usually catastrophic.
Yes to the heating pad..low and warm only, not hot
I would use a syringe and go slow, keep bunnies face covered so you do not scare him..
hold upright and firm, they are very wiggley.. feed him warm pedialyte...homemade flavorless may be better, but try what you have first.
if he will only take a little, try again in 30 minute intervals
Baby bunnies use FV as formula
cat attack requires meds..
what do you have as far as anti biotics? ORAL Rx tablets...not ointments.
I am so sorry about the other two..
so glad you rescued the last one.
The momma leaves them alone all day, she returns at dusk.
Poor momma bunny..
she will not stay there when she see tyhe nest disturbance.
edit:okay, I see fast typing Pappy is on...Yay!
I am slow

runestonez might be the person to contact. She is a bunny pro, but she is in GTA and I don't know if she is available or if she can travel.
if nothing else works out, squirrelfriend might be willing to take him and work her magic, but you will need to ask her. She is always so full that I don't want to stretch her too thin ;)
Other than that, I cannot think of anyone else in this area.
gs1 is another bunny person, but she won't be able to take him.:grouphug

Thank you so much astra. It's a start. I emailed Beaulah telling her that there is help here. She must be so frightened what to do...you know her heart is huge and such a soft spot for all little creatures...:Love_Icon :Love_Icon
I will send a couple of pm's once we hear back about the condition of the little one.
Thank you!:grouphug

Thank you for directing me here, Nancy (I am beyond crazy with my finals and have no time for anything, would have missed this thread:shakehead )
Oh, don't I know Beaulah and her heart!...:) :grouphug :Love_Icon
I hope something works out.
Runestonez would probably be the ideal match because she is so experienced with them, but I don't know what her current availability is
