My niece just called me. They had to pry this chipmunk out of a cats mouth. She doesn't see any puncture marks but we all know that it will still need ABs. She does have Augmentin 600/5ml liquid from her son. Can she give it to her and if so how does she dose it? She doesn't know if she can get a weight but it is a she and she thinks it might be pregnant. She did say she drink some water but will not eat. She has some kind of puppy formula (not sure if it is esbilac). Should she try it? She is on the phone now and she tryed to weight her and she thinks she is 56.7 grams.

Maybe you have the experience with squees and chippies, but since I don't know :tilt Don' want to be condescending - pardon me if it seems that way ... I'm just posting here the first advice I can think about off the top of my head. You may want to brush up again on the stickies to that effect... :dono

Please Do not offer Esbilac. Many of the fuzzers have issues with it now - heavy, severe diarrhea. You may want to try mixing a homemade goat's milk formula that one of our members has used for a long time and which works very well.

1 cup Goats milk
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup Dannon all natural vanilla yogurt (Not light)

Mix well and keep in a plastic or glass container in refrigerator. Lasts 72 hours in refrigerator.
Warm formula to feed. Only takes a few seconds in the microwave. Be careful not to overheat will curdle the yogurt.

First of all, make sure this little one is placed in a secure, warm container or cage. Place a heating pad under HALF of the container so she can move away from the heat if she needs to. Place some fleece in there for her to cuddle into and hide - no towels their claws can get caught in that and injure the chippie. MAKE SURE IT IS IN A QUIET place... no pets around, no kids yelling... peace and quiet are essential for that chippie, it is highly stressed now and needs to fell calmer before shečll accept any food.

Try to place a lid or very shallow bowl in th container with some small rocks or beads or pebbles to keep it from spilling, but so she can drink freely.

Hoping someone comes in quick to dose the ABs for you - I unfortunately cannot do that part for you :(

Good luck with your little one. Keep us posted and can you post pics? Always helps to assess with ics.

Cover the container, make holes for air

Thanks Scooterzmom, I know she is alittle scared of the chippy. She has a lot of fight left in her. I'm hoping she can use the ABs that she has there because I am pretty sure that even though there are no puncture wounds the cat would not let it go and they had to pry its mouth open to release her.

I'm new here so I can't really offer much advice, but I can tell you that the Augmentin is only good for 10 days after it was mixed by the pharmacist, and it has to have been kept in the fridge the whole time (goes bad after being left out eight hours or more). (I am a pharmacist.)

she will need a legible 1 cc syringe to measure the meds..and a probotic..ben bac, yogurt, acidiopholis...
she should give a probotic within two hours of dosing the meds , before or after.
I will send a PM on amount to give etc..
I know nothing about Chippies, but that they are precious and someday I am going to meet one!:D
