Hi all-
I just stumbled upon this board while looking for more information on baby squirrels.. Recently my fiance found two babies that were foolishly removed from mom because of nesting in an attick. He tried for a couple days to leave them out for mom to find but she never came back. Luckily he knows being the animal lover i am that of course i would be up for the challenge in helping these babies get the proper care they needed or to the proper facility that could help them. Working/schooling in the animal industry for years i had raised plenty of babies before but NEVER squirrels! Your board has already given me so much information and its just great to be able to connect with a bunch of squirrel lovers!

My passion started when i attended Penn State university and the plethora of squirrels that happily live on campus intreigued me. They were never bothered by the abundance of students walking through campus and eventually it became a sunday ritual to spend an afternoon feeding the squirrels and watching them play.

My babies seem to be about 7 weeks old and really starting to become nuts! Runt Baby is significantly smaller and also needed a lot more attention/feeding when we first took them in (about 1 week ago) He is affectionate and loving. Monkey.. well hes a crazy boy! Climbs all over like a Monkey so thats how he got his name!

Im so excited to read through all the information provided on the board and cant wait to continue this adventure while i have the time with them!

Will try to post pictures soon but i dont know if i have access yet! Thank you all for the information posted here i know it will be a big help!

We are glad you found us too! :D We have loads of information to share and encourage you to read and ask any and all questions. Of course one of the first things we will want to know is what are you feeding these babies as their nutrittion is vital to their survival.
Thank you and thank the bf from all of us here for caring enough to help the little ones. :grouphug

Hey everyone- Looking for some advice.. My two babies are about 8-9 weeks old.. just starting to eat some solids but i still offer the formula at least 5-6 times a day which is more than i was because now they only take the bottle 2-3 times a day and being a worried mom i want to make sure they have access to anything they need.... Anyway i noticed my bigger boy (monkey) had a slightly swollen and protruding genitalia. I got worried instantly and thought maybe he could be dehydrated.. but while they were sleeping last night i woke them up to try and feed again before i went to bed and the little one (runt baby) was actually sucking on his... umm yes.. You know where im going with this.. So i found the cause... What do i do?? Im wondering if it is because he is starting to wean and its a comfort to him like the nipple of the bottle top while he sleeps.. but i dont want him to cause irritation or worse infection on my other little boy!! I also dont want to have to seperate them but i may have to.. Please any help would be great! it just started and i want to stop this habit before it hurts monkey boy..hopefully withou having to seperate them but i have to do whats best, maybe just until they are done weaning??

On a more happier note.. they both are becoming so much more active. I give them a couple big room excersizes per day where i "squirrel" proof my living room and let them run around. They were cautious at first but are starting to really explore! I took some newer photos attached below- One of which is with my boyfriend and both of them crawling all over him.. this is before they wanted to venture too far from us in the living room!

Thanks for all your help in advance! :thankyou
