Hey guys. I just found a baby bunny out in the yard. Poor thing just barely missed the mower. His foot in injured. BF may have clipped him with the weed wacker (he says he didnt think he did) or it was already there, hence the reason he was just sitting in the weeds. Either way, what do you all suggest I do for him. Squirrels are my thing, but I am clueless on the poor bunny baby. I have some Baytril and Fox Valley (squirrel formula) on hand if that will be of any help. Attaching a couple of photos for help.

Going to need a weight to dose the baytril. With his eyes open, you can pull some clover and dandelion greens from outside for him. He will still need formula, as well. You can also give old fashioned oats to him, as well. Bunnies can stress very easily, so if you have an aquarium with a reptile cover they work well, but cover him with a blanket so he is not stressed by seeing through the glass, but not able to get out. Also, quietest room. I would suggest you start with pedialyte and heat, for the first several hours. He may be shocky from the injury.

87g is what the little guy/girl weighs. Syringe feed? Amounts?

87 grams is close to weaning. I'd try offering greens and oats tonight and see if he eats. Weigh in the morning and if he gains weight, it's OK to wean him, if not then he'll need formula (4-5 ccs once or twice a day).

Okay, I placed some dandelion greens and clover in the cage along with a dish of water. Looks like he nibbled the greens a bit. Silly question, but do I offer the oats dry or cooked?
he really needs to be eating a lot .... asap .... their stomachs aren't meant to be ever semi empty ....
please contact s&b2, anne, jackie in tampa and pappy (anyone you can think of that has information) asap ...
the dandelion greens, clover etc are good but rabbits eat a lot ... and i'm worried about introducing too many new things into his diet .....
if you can get some good quality hay - oxbow is very good- that would be very helpful too .....
i wish i could help more....:grouphug
oats would be raw/dry .... i don't feed oats to my rabbits because it's a high starch food and starch is sugar... sugar can be really bad for rabbits depending on the amount.....(not sure about cottontails)
