hello everyone.. I was just wondering on something..in order to really over do it with calcium , i hear it would have to be given ALOT and for a long period of time right? nutty has been doing good... its been about 4 months and he still doesnt walk :(.. but he does have good leg movement...he eats 2 hhbs a day, and gets fed ensure/fv 3 times a day, also eats his veggies which is usually cucumber, zucchini and he LOVES belgian endive.. he is really picky lol..he will also get some baby carrots from time to time and a little piece of fruit once in a while as well, like apple, nectarine, mango.... in addition we were giving him extra ca, the powder kind, carbonate maybe?, we were giving him around 150 of the ca split up in two doses for a little while now, maybe 3 weeks or so because before that he was getting less additional ca and we think he relapsed.. a few days ago he was acting a little weird again.. a little sleepy etc.. so we got nervous that he was having a relapse again and upped him to 3 times a day with the feedings again with about 80 additional ca at each feeding so around 240 total in additional ca... now he seems super perky and really alert and active for what he can be with moving around, as he drags himself around his cage ...he is eating up a storm...just looks and seems better..so my REAL question is how long should we keep him on the additional ca before the possibility of giving him too much could be present? and what signs should we look for IF he is getting too much ? i hear whatever he doesn't use, he will get rid of anyhow? but again we don't want to over do it... we just want to make sure he is on the road to the best recovery he can have.. by the way, this month is his birthday..he is turning 5 :)we don't know the exact date as we found him as a baby..
thanks everyone :)
