I saw the post about tube feeding the Possies. Could anyone post some instructions for tube feeding? I have seen it done in kittens but it has been a while. I would never dive right into tube feeding, but reading some detailed instructions would be nice to have in my memory bank!

I have been taught how to and it scares me.
I am not experienced enough to teach how to, but you mark the feeding tube so you can see where to stop inserting at... this is done by simply holding the tube up to animal and visuallizing the stomach distance from mouth..
you should have stethescope so you can ck and make sure tube is in stomach not lungs..
I have seen a lung be filled, although the rehabber who did it, swung the fluid out of the sqs lung immediately, he did within minutes.
He had issues, but the aspiration killed him.
Rest in Peace Chip.
I would guess thgere are instructions to do this somewhere on line..I do not have a link.
I am so lucky to have possum rehabbers near me:bowdown
TSB is a great network...amen.
good luck:Love_Icon
PS, sqs are NEVER tube feed. The person who I watched should not have been doing it...
however, I am not anyones master, and how one rehabs is their business.

Squirrelsrule does A LOT of tube feeding. Actually, I believe she tubes most of her pinkies. I think it is the only way she can get them all fed in a timely manner. I do know that she has a video of it, cause I've seen it...just cannot remember where or why...maybe it was at the Gathering in Jacksonville.
I'd send SR&BT a PM and maybe she can send you a link to the video she has or give you step by step written directions.
