Two little pinkies were removed from an attic, set outside in a box for a day incase mom came for them. She didn't so my daughter went and picked them up.
they are in a bin with tissues and a heat pad under half, they have been fed pedialite and some kitten formula, warm damn tissue use dto make them potty.
they have marks on them like bruises, and a few tiny maggots were on them and removed immediately. What else should we be doing?

Hi Pond Luvr.
Were these marks on them when you found them? If they showed up after....it could be from another animal trying to get a quick lunch. If they had maggots....well...you sure mom has been around even?? When you see maggots...its normally a sign that something has been....(not to sound vile)...but rotting.
Here's what I would do...first off.....ditch the kitten formula. Protein is WAY too high....and will do nothing but cause stomach and digestion issues....leading to other issues. Get your hands on some Fox Valley 32/40....and in the meantime....switch these guys over to a good goats milk formula while you are waiting for your FV. Jackie in Tampa has a really good recipe that I have used with success.
In the meantime....they will need some help with the cuts and things....you can try an AB ointment.....but if it were me...I think Id almost go with an oral AB. Do you have a vet they can see?? If not....many members here can help with types of ABs and dosing. I would almost dose them up with a good parasite control....I use revolution for kittens..
Make sure the heating pad is only halfway under the container....so they have a place to crawl to if they get overheated. Get their weights....feed 5-7% of their weights every 3 hrs or so.....make sure you potty and pooh them at every feeding.....but most importantly.....get them off the KMR.
Not that this really matters...but not sure those are foxers. The nails dont seem dark enough....and Ive never worked with a grey to be able to say one way or another.

hmmm....ya know...they just could be foxers....I see a bit of darkening on those back feet....you'll know once you get a weight.
Either way.....WELCOME BABIES!!!
I will be up for awhile....as I passed out on the couch way early. If you have any questions....feel free to ask.

Im not possitive on foxies but nails are dark. Who's in the Elgin IL area with experience to raise them? anyone? I work two jobs and although i could probably take them to work, i'm not experienced with anything this little.

The care i understand, crittermom helped me last year. I'm feeding pedialyte now and going to get goats milk and make the formula.
those marks were on them when i got them. People saw a raccoon going in their attic, so they cut down the tree, found these guys in the attic assumed they were kits, and put them in a box outside for a day, hoping the mom coon would come get them. I'm assuming the flies were biting the heck out of them for a day and those are the marks.

Im trying to reach a rehabber friend in IL...just waiting to hear back....and how far she is from you.
I understand about the marks....what concerns me is that you said you found maggots on them. Flies lay their eggs on the same thing they eat(decaying matter)....takes about a day for the egg to hatch. Something near where they were nested is decaying. You may want to tell the people that found them to go back up to the attic and take a look.....better to find now...than when it gets even warmer.
Crittermom is the bomb....so glad she helped you with your babes last year. :peace

The maggots worry me, too.
I would call around to all of the local pet stores and see if you can purchase some Capstar. It is a tablet used to treat fleas in dogs but if there are internal maggots (and they will crawl in to any opening -- nostrils, anus, etc) they will bail out almost immediately.
It is an 11.4mg tablet. Dissolve 1/4 of the tablet in 1cc(ml) of water and administer .01cc (ml) per 25 grams of weight.
If you have any emergency vet offices that are open Sunday they might sell you a single pill. It is available over the counter - you don't need a prescription...

Here's the link to find rehabbers in your area. Kathie Wheater is not to far.
http://web.extension.illinois.edu/wildlife/professionals.cfm#rehab
go to this link - on the page it says find rehabilitators by County - its very current and phone numbers are listed too
Hope this helps. I'm in Princeton a bit far but many are around Elgin.

My appologies sincerely! Laptop died, working two jobs, and getting up every two hours! :) The little girl died right away, she had the most bruising and fly bites.
The little boy bubba is thriving. I have followed the rules from this forum to the T.
He is now 3 weeks and growing daily. I saw i had messages on here, i,m sorry i did not get them until now.

Thank you, the first week well actually it sucked lol but then i got a schedule and routine going and it became easier every day.
The lack of sleep at night still is rough, but oh well it's only for a short time, and he's doing so well im very pleased.
he is a pig i have to stop him and make him slow down. He gets mad and chirps and makes little noises, but he lives through it. Wow do they poop and pee alot haha
as im wiping him he is still sucking an imaginary nipple.
My 23 year old daughter feeds him a couple times a day while i work, and i have nights and mornings, so it's working well between the two of us.

Jackie, if a rice buddy is a sock filled with rice and warmed, i did have one in there, he kept climbing all over and was not near it to often. i also warmed a water bottle wrapped it up and put it under the blanket for him to snuggle and sometimes he would but others he was all over the place.
I have a heat pad half under half not under the bin. Is there something else i need to do?
