I did manage to catch it! It wasn't hard at all because it's not fast right now. I have it in a big box with a towel, three small pieces of apple, and some water in a little bowl that I dissolved a tiny piece of advil in for the pain. I can tell it is hurting. I also managed to squirt a small amount of sugar water from a syringe into its mouth before it bit me through the gloves I was wearing. It's just in the box now, nose to the corner. I'm letting it rest.
I'd appreciate any help or advice. I don't want it to suffer and I'd like to think I was helping.
Thanks,
CL

yikes...okay...let me take the water solution out.

The advil water solution is out. I don't think he drank any from the bowl. He hasn't moved from the position from when I put the little bowl in there. What I shot in his mouth earlier was sugar-water that I read about on this board earlier...

Z,
I got your email. She and I have made contact. I was going to upload a couple of photos of him, but I don't see the right button on here. Maybe I can't yet being a newbie.
I emailed them to you.

lookmomchickens is in Katy...
she may have vet access:thinking
it's best to have the sq seen asap..
if steroids are able to be given early enough, the chances for a better outcome are greater
good luck baby squirrel
thank you for rescueing

I'm here!! I'm in school until 2:40 this afternoon. As far as vet access goes, they've tightened down here quite a bit. I'll have to look and see what meds I have on hand when I get home... Can someone tell me what meds we'll need? How old is this little guy?

:morning Jackie
I just got off the phone with Jessica. She can go look at this little guy after School. What ever med. we need, she said she might have at home. She will check about Metacam. I have sent Emails to a few Foxer Rehabbers who do have some NR.
I will call Cl and see if this little fellow made it threw the night. CL said he can bring him to me unless we find some one closer. Muffin Squirrel was my NR go to Home. My Vet will see him if we need to.
Is their some one SET UP for LONG TERM NR Squirrels in the Houston area? :dono
This Foxer has a few scratches on his face. He has dragged the skin on both Knees Raw. He also has little feeling in one foot. He did drink a little water last night. Then Berried his head and fell asleep. :Love_Icon
PS
I have some Pictures I forwarded to Astra last night. I am going to Email them to you Jackie. Can you post them?

Good morning. I really didn't sleep last night. I was checking on him and doing laundry.
He ate two little apple triangles I cut up for him last night. I also got a little more water in his mouth via a syringe. He's sleeping now here in my "office" (except for the noise from the typing of my keyboard).
The heating pad has his little crate cozy and it's dark in here.
I can meet up with her in Katy when she's available after 2:30pm. I want to do what's best for him.
He's trying to sleep now.

Cristol, I can try..I am from the stone age..:dono
:poke why not steroids if this is spinal??????
(STEROIDS AND NSAIDS {metacam} DO NOT GO TOGETHER and will kill a sq if used)
That would be my choice and would have done so as soon as it were possible. Still would..:thumbsup
Cristol are you in driving distance to this sq?

PS: I don't know how old he is, but he's pretty big. Christal has the photos. I don't know if testicle size reflects age, but if they do, he's an adult.

His little ears are pinned back, that could be from pain, or fear.

That pic looks like the swelling is really high on the spine. I would go with a steroid myself.
Good luck Jeff :grouphug :grouphug

Jeff is now at "Rehabber M's" place.
It's been quite a day! (my wife's car battery died, too and I had to rescue her!)
He has eaten three apple wedges. M is going to get him to a specialist. Updates as they come!
Thanks for all the advice.

:thumbsup yes, please - updates as they come!
Two rescues in a row.
Do you need help with finding a rehabber for your second rescue? ;)
Just make sure your wife is well hydrated (stress dehydrates), has lots of blankies to snuggle in, is in a warm and quiet environment, with some fresh apple wedges and other good food.:D

I have a short update on Jeff.
The Katy Rehabber is going to have the Vet do some X-Rays Monday or Tuesday.
She does think Jeff was hit by a car. He is still swollen below his shoulders, on his Spine area. He is Battered and Bruised. :nurse
GOOD New is He has feeling in his back feet and tail. :alright.gif He is picking, and eating little bites of food, water drinking is good. :thumbsup3
We will let you know what the X-Ray & Vet has to say.
