My neighboors have closed the hole in the attic were the squirrels were living, but the squirrels were inside the attic at the time. The squirrel(s) have been locked in the attic since thursday (todays sunday) theyre skratching and biting, and I can hear it from outside. The neighbor is'nt doing ANYTHING about it, and I've told him he has to get them out or their gonna die, but he says he'll deal with it, and then he doesnt do anything! I dont know what to do or how too convince him, I even told him I would pay for the attic being opened if he would just please let them out, but he wont.. I feel so helpless, he doesnt care about the squirrels, and now he gets mad whenever I try to talk to him! They are going to die, but what can i do?

Don't know Canada laws but that would be animal cruelty in my book.
Have you tried explaining that by doing this , they will do even more damage trying to get out !!!

Wait until he leaves and open up the soffit vent where he can't see. Close it up another time while he's gone again. If you get caught, let'em call the cops and be honest about what you were doing. He'll look like the jackxxx.

Be careful about tresspass violations...
Can you call Animal Control...this IS cruelty !!!

I know this one company who humanely removes squirrels: they install one-way doors so that the squirrels can leave the place but cannot get back inside.
I know because my landlord used their services when squirrels started living in the attic and when we had raccoons nightly.

Gosh, I wish I remembered the guy's name... I think, it was Darrell or Darren something like that. But it does not matter.
You can just call them, explain the situation and maybe, they will know the laws etc regarding animal cruelty.
You can also tell them that you were referred by one of the tenants whom they helped over a year ago.
They were great when they helped my landlord, so do call them.

I think, I remembered this company's guy name - Derrick (whatever the spelling was). I am pretty sure it was Derrick.
But again, regardless - call them and talk to them.

maybe, you could tell this two-legged creature that this company - swat - can install those one-way doors.
That will prevent any future squirrels from getting inside.

Wow, your neighbor is a jerk! I do not know how he could live with himself being so cruel. There has got to be a place where you can call. Maybe like a humane society. I wish I had some better advice.....
i would call the humane society or the toronto wildlife center or the police.
tell him it's against the law in ontario to kill squirrels.

In Ontario it is legal to trap and kill squirrels if tbey are causing damage to your property...HOWEVER...it must be done in a HUMANE manner...what he is doing is animal cruelty...call the Humane Society and see if they are willing to come out and investigate. If they have been there since Thursday speed is of the essence! Do it NOW...they will have a line for emergencies...

I don't think it's trespass to enter a property to stop a crime. If locking the the squirrels in there is NOT a crime then I'd trespass anyway and let a jury of my peers decide.
