Hi everyone, I have a really extreamly tame squirrel named August, I have had her since about 3 weeks old and she has become totally hooked to my husband, she is friendly with everyone for that matter...the problem is that we are going to be moving in about a month to Ma and I don't know that it would be a good idea to take her with me, I am not sure if she can be released ever....she is very tame, I want to know if there might be someone out there in the area that could take her for us, but I want to make sure she is going to a good place because she may never want to be wild and we will worry ourselfs sick if she is set free in a bad way....she is very scared if you move her cage outside ...so if anyone can help or knows of anyone please get in touch with me ASAP....Thanks so much:thankyou

Hi Mammasquirrel62! How old is August? If you do not find anyone else to help, I would be willing to take her and help her get ready for release. I do believe there is always a possibility of release when they are healthy. She may lose some of that tameness once she is no longer with you. I would not release her unless I felt she was ready and if I felt she could not be released, is she was just too tame and not wilding up, I would keep her while I looked for the perfect home for her. What Kind / size cage would she be coming with?
Here is a link to my thread on our release cage and some of the squirrels we have released. We have 2.5 acres that backs up to about a thousand acres of woods. http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27563&highlight=release+cage+built
If you have any questions, you can post them here or PM me.
