Hi all
I am wondering if anyone has experienced balding with regards to the formula they use? I know this is not a parasite problem but feel it is because of my quest to get a good formula.I was with Esbilac for the longest time and like most others found out it no longer has the proper nutritional value it used to have. So now I am with Fox Valley 20/50 but I am now getting these balds spots and really sad looking tails. I have never had this problem before and have been rehabbing squirrels for some years now.Because I relied on Esbilac I never had to deal with this before with the new season around the corner I am hoping to not have this issue again.
I would appreciate any input anyone can give me. I am going to try Fox Valley 32/40 and use the " Ultra Boost" and hope this will work.
Can anyone help? Does anyone know the vitamin/mineral that is needed to prevent balding? Is it Copper?

Hi Joylynn,

I am not an expert, so I don't have much to share.

But I know that sometimes the fur problems can be not only nutritional, but also seasonal. It's about Spring and molting usually starts around this time.

Parasites could also be an issue.

Could you please post photos of those fur problems?

It will help our experts identify potential causes.

Thank you!

I really can't tell or be of much help, but let me just say that last spring Hami's tail looked really weird - thick at the base and going to almost bald at the tip... like some kind of triangle. His nutrition iis top-notch so I knew it wasn't that... and eventually it just grew back all nice and thick. Now, again this year, his tail is looking strange... like somebody pulled out some hair off one side on the tip and some of it all around at about 3 inches off the base (like a r ing of hair missing.

He eats like a king... Teklad blocks, HHB's, boo-balls (some of each, as a viariety but Teklad's every day though), lots of greens and veggies, mushrooms, some bits of fruit and/or couple of nuts (as treats)... so again I know it's not the nutrition. I can only surmise it's molt.

Seems a few people have mentioned tail issues lately. Could this be the season?
