Maybe there is a rehabber close to you who could put her with others for release and teach her how to be a wild squirrel.

no easy answer to this.

1. she might end up being one of those squirrels who decide they do not want to live wild. If that's the case, then, it might be better if she stays with you - people she knows and is attached to.

2. she might wild up just fine. Although, since she is so tame, it might take her longer (it's very individual).

3. She might end up being one of those squirrels who wild up, settle outside, but choose to visit their humans regularly for food and just to say Hi.

4. Maybe, if she is released with other squirrels her age, she will wild up faster.
Although, on the other hand, at this age it is harder for them to become release friends. It can be done, but more difficult.

IN EITHER CASE, you won't know till you start the release process.

The fact that she is afraid of the outside is not uncommon.
BUT again, it might mean both things: a) either she needs more time to wild up b) or she does not want to be wild.
AGain, you won't know until you tried to soft release her and give her some more time (about 4 weeks or so).

But since you are moving out of state in a month, don't really know what to say.
Because if you are moving away after she is released, she won't have anyone to come to if she finds herself in trouble (a lot of squirrels do come "home" for help).
So, in this case, it might be better if she is released by someone who is not moving anywhere and will be there for her if she needs help.

Sorry, I have no answer. Just tried to brainstorm possible options...

There are ppl here where you are, so, hopefully, someone will be able to help you.
There are also ppl in MA (but I guess, it will depend on where in MA you are)

Hi Mammasquirrel62 :wave123 Just so you know Mass is not a squirrel friendly state. It is illegal to possess wildlife in mass unless you have a rehab license.
Bring her with you if you can but be careful.I wish we had the same laws as other states have:shakehead

Hello..

If she has bitten anyone more than once or twice, I vote to give her freedom in the south where she is from. I worry that she will wild up and have to be released in a strange place.
