First off, give him nothing more by mouth if he is bloated....the bloat can actually kill a squirrel. Do you have infant gas X?
Can you post pictures? If not, I see that you are new, can you email me some and I will post?

Hi:wave123 Welcome!!
First, what formula are you feeding him??
Did you give him pedialyte to hydrate him the first day?
Did you make sure he was warm before you gave him anything??
He should be in a small container with a heating pad under only half of it, on low.
Fleece blanket to snuggle.
Now Do you know how much he weighs??
How much are you feeding him?
are you cutting the formula. he cannot handle full strength at first.

First, stop the formula and make sure he is not dehydrated, can you pinch his skin behind his neck, does it go back or stay up??
Do you have pedialyte??
If not you can make a hydration drink for him
1 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons sugar
1 quart water
are you using a syringe, it should be a 1cc. and let him drink VERY slowly!!

Do not give any laxatives. Gas x is to relief some symptoms from the bloat, it will NOT make him go, he needs to get some gas out along with poops.

"Bloat happens when you keep trying to "top him off" and introduce new formula into a tummy that still has old formula in it...they mix, and eventually you have enough old formula that hasn't been able to push out through the intestines because it mixed with fresh and is still in the tummy, and fermentation and the resulting gasses begin. "

One other thing, if you have a heating pad under his container, have it on LOW....and only put it under half of the container.
Can you send a picture of his tummy, so we can see how it looks?

read this thread
http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32881&page=30

In this thread it explains step by step what to do with a baby, he is going through it right now, his baby just opened his eyes a few days ago.
There is a lot of information read it over then come back with more questions.
His baby wouldn't poop either, sometimes they dont for a few days when there is sudden switch from Mamma to formula

Please do not worry about the poop now....if he is bloated this is what we have to concentrate on first....he must be in pain.:shakehead

Here are some posts about bloat...

Did you resend pictures? I haven't gotten anything yet.

What makes you think that he is bloated? Is his tummy hard and "bulging"?

You can also figure the amount to feed going by the 5% feeding rule. The stomach capacity is generally 5% of their body weight in grams (this will NOT work if you weigh in ounces). You can weigh the baby on your gram scale.

EXAMPLE: Squirrel weighs 50 grams X 5% = 2.5 cc's

The only thing to do now is skip a feeding and then feed him less at the next one, you also may want to mix some apple juice in water, and offer that in between formula feedings to help things start moving.
How often are you feeding him and how much??

Plus stimulate him before and after feeding

Yes he does look bloated, but I have seen worse. Is his tummy hard?
You really should not give him anything else by mouth until the bloat goes down. Have you tried the warm soak? Sometimes what I have to do is just keep massaging their tummy and I will also try patting their little back, like you would a baby. Two goals here, get the tummy soft, and get some poop....BUT the important one now is to get that tummy down.

Just checking on the little one this morning.
Once you get him stable, or deflated...:D let's get him off the puppy formula.
You need to get Fox Valley formula. Since he is furred, and I think eyes opened, get the 20/50. Do you have a grams scale? They need to be weighed and then you feed 5-7% of their body weight. You will also need 1 cc syringes.
First things first, I will repost what you will need for a happy and healthy baby, once you come back on with a report...:) :thumbsup :grouphug
